• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

When you research the news, media, internet, and wherever else you want to look, it seems that "sexuality" is becoming more and more used to lead people to sin, especially among the young people.

Do you agree that sex/sexuality (the abuse and misuse of it that causes everyone to sin) is or will be the number 1 issue that young christians will struggle/battle with? (more than violence, drugs, materialism, etc).

I think the biggest problem with it is that it is misunderstood and presented to us in a very misguided way through the media.

i agree with this post.

the sexoual drive is one of the basic human insticts, like the need for food. it has to do with our survival.

this is why sexouality is used so much in everywhere. we can have a tv commercial for a yoghourt presenting a female losely dressed lusting over a specific brand of yoghourt....
there is such a commercial in my country...

sex cannot be SOOOO sinful and bad as some are presenting it because it is in our nature. God gave it to us, and allowed stages in our sexoual development. great sexoual urges, less sexoual urges etc...

we have messed things up so much... i feel confused myself...

I only have experience one way. I was irresposible with sex. People really got hurt. I was not a good man. I didn't physically hurt anyone, but I hurt womens' feelings. It is my belief that men, or boys, who are willing to pressure a woman into having sex are cursed. This fact alone betrays them. A proper man would never even let things get that steamy. It is not right to sit and neck. It is not right, if you are a man, to let yourself get all turned on. If you are a woman, and it makes you feel powerful to get a man all steamed up, this shows a similar defect. Such people deserve each other. Each other they shall have, and many others, too.

Scripture is my guide to what makes a woman truly beautiful. Jesus Mother was the most beautiful woman who ever lived. if you were God, and therefore created Your Own Mother, wouldn't you make her the most beautiful woman ever? You would do a really good job creating Your Own Mother. The most beautiful thing about the virgin Mary was her modesty. Even when she was with the Savior of the world in her womb, the Bible says "she pondered these things in her heart". That means she didn't tell anyone. That is real modesty. Also very beautiful was that she was attentive and obedient to the Word of God. Even though she could have been stoned to death for adultery, she still said yes to God. No human being ever loved Jesus more than His own Mother. That is very beautiful. When Jesus suffered and died, Mary's heart was pierced by His suffering. God says, "They will look upon Him they have pierced, and shall mourn for Him like an only Son. That is in Zechariah. That was Mary, the Mother of Jesus, mourning the death of an only Son. Mary was a virgin her whole life, and gave birth to the Savior immaculately. She was born without original sin, the only suitable vessel for Christ Himself. All these things made her a perfect vessel to bear a perfect Child, The Christ Child.

If you want a model for a woman, look to Jesus' Mother, Mary. She is the ideal woman. The closer you can get to her ideal, the better off you will be. That goes for men seeking a wife, and women themselves.

Media and commercials and stuff like that play a GIGANTIC role here. The lust sin is and will be getting more and more popular because almost everywhere you go, you see beautifull women or men. I think it was easier to struggle with lust in the past because there weren't so much media but now... I come home, turn on the TV and there's a commercial or show with these beautifull modestly dressed women, I take a newspaper, again a commercial with sexy women, turn on the internet and it's the same thing...
It's crazy...

my 2 cents.... It is sad that society has come to accept sex the way it does. I agree that sex is everywhere you look. Why, because we've allowed it! I have heard so many people ( even in this forum ) say things like " well if they're gay thats ok, so long as they don't push it onto me" Is it ok??? Or has society led us to believe it's ok??
In so far as sexual urges and lustful thoughts being "only natural" and "a basic instinct" I would agree to a point. Sure, have sexual fantasies....about your spouse!....look at another person with lustful eyes...so long as they are your spouse!!! Yes sex has everything to do with human survival....but does that mean we procreate with anyone and everyone?!? I think when it comes to sex, Christ made it plain and simple...it is to be done with your spouse (of the opposite sex). period.
I struggle everyday with porn addiction. It seems impossible to break because I can't walk outside my door or turn on the television without being bombarder by sex! I really miss the old days when the only way they could advertise a bra on TV was by using a manequin! Satan sure has come a long way...but only because we've allowed him to.

Society grossly misuses and misrepresents sex. The church is not very comfortable with it.

This creates a huge gap for young people. There is an enormous need to spell out to single Christians what our normal, God-given sexuality means. Singles aren't asexual. Not all sexual feelings and reactions are 'lustful'. Not all curioisty about sexual matters is perversion.

I know most people will disagree but I think its unhealthy to think of sex as dirty and feel that you are wrong to even lust or have sexual thoughts. It's normal to have a healthy sex health drive and fantasies . We should embrace sexuality but I am not ok with the emphasis to have sex young.

Yeah, but it only makes sense that when you have these boy bands (like in my unfortunate generation) targeting girls between the ages of 11 and 17 with extremely suggestive and sometimes sexually explicit lyrics, you're going to get a bunch of people to throw away their virginity like it's taking out the trash.

I agree.

Yes sex is every where. It's in print, TV/movies, music, and the internet, it's even in games now also.

I was raised with the phrase just make sure you use protection

Thank the Lord I'm forgiven of my past. All I did was seek out sex and I was full of lust.

How nice it would be if our programing and view of advertising sex would be if it were like many years ago. What ever happened to quality shows that were family orientated. Or music that talked about "I wanna hold your hand" but now I'm sickened by most filth out there they call entertainment very few clean things remain.

But yeah it's going to be a hugh strugle not only for kids and teens but alot of adults as well. I mean sex is every where you look. You don't have to be thinking about it any more or go and search it out just go down the street and see billboard signs of barely dressed ppl. :(

The Discovery and History channle get viewed alot (when I watch tv) here.
