  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Define "believe" and "God"?
tulc(thinks it always helps to understand the words being used)

Believe would likely mean; think the entity is real.

I would also think, for the purpose of this site, the God that Christian theology describes.

Oh, if that's what the OP meant then I'd have to say: "No, they don't." If the OP meant something else it would be helpful to know what those words meant to him. :)

Thanks for asking. No, not the last time I checked.
I don't believe you. All atheists like Hollywood mad scientist who don't have higher honesty and you capitalised 'I' so you think you're I Am Who I Am.

Typical of what I've decided to expect.

Believe is accepting Christ, God is I Am Who I Am.

I can't be clearer than that.

Is the "believe" in the above post the same sort of "believe in" as in the OP?

Can you define "accepting Christ"?

I can't be clearer than that.
Well actually you could have been clearer in the OP or people wouldn't have had to ask you what you meant. :sorry:
tulc(hopes that's clear) :)

This whole thread is tongue in cheek.

Please don't take it very seriously.

Do you have any thoughts on having any thoughts?
I'm just interested in debate.

But I did see an atheist scientist on a documentary called 'God's not dead' made by Hercules who actually did believe in God in spite of his atheism.

Case closed.

Why do you capitalize the word God? Do atheists secretly believe in God because they do that?

Any thoughts?

I'll put it this way:

I know that many children create an imaginary friend. Who is caring, and loyal, and provides companionship, security, and a sense that they're not alone. I think that god-beliefs are grown-up, expanded, culturally accepted versions of the same thing.

It's actually an interesting question. I consider atheism and pantheism two sides of the same coin, and there was a time there for a while when which I would describe myself as depended on my mood. I've seen other people identify as atheists who were closer to pantheists as well.

Believe would likely mean; think the entity is real.

I would also think, for the purpose of this site, the God that Christian theology describes.

It's probably worth asking precisely what Christian theology describes! I was amused when I read the New Testament and realized that Paul was as panentheistic as I was. So much for anthropomorphism!
