Yahweh Nissi said:Sure thing bro. I have seen Mogwei and GYBE, and Sigur Ros for that matter, live and they were all awsome! Have you heared "Loveless" (an album) by My Bloody Valentine?

Slint were doing post-rock back in the late eighties before most of your Godspeeds or Mogwai's had come along. In fact early Mogwai stuff borrows heavily from Slint. Slint bank members have also been heavily influential on other artists rg. Dave Pajo (aka Papa M) has been involved in Tortoise, Stereolab, Zwan. Brian McMahon plays in The For Carnation and was involved with Squirrel Bait. The others have played with guys like the Palace Brothers, Gastr Del Sol etc etc.fortyfourbreaks said:hey fijian,
just curious, what do you mean Slint is the grandaddy of them all?? ima have to check them out.
Shellac may be a bit harsh for some ears. They have a very stripped down sound, much like Low but in a very different way. Copper or Watch Song would be good places to start with Shellac. Search www.epitonic.com for Low and Shellac and you can download tracks.fortyfourbreaks said:also, shellac is very intersting, dont know whether to like em or not. and whats the deal with low? I hear about them so much, what songs or albums of theirs are good?
If you persevere with Low I promise you wont be disappointed!Nico said:I have 1 album of Low's, Things We Lost in the Fire. I don't know exactly how I feel about this particular album. I've only listened a few times, and many of the tracks sound, at first glance, pretty similar. It's a very mellow and slow album. You gotta be in a clam and wistfull mood or else you get bored. The girl's voice is really pretty and ethereal. I think I just need to listne a bit more and I kinda want to check out a few of their other albums. they contrast some soft vocals w/some guitar reverb and feedback, which I like, but I guess lately I've been feeling like something a little bit more tense.
I would check them out though. I've been listening to MBV's Isn't Anything a lot more recently and it's growing even more on me. In fact, the first song, which @ first I wasn't so into, has grown on me. I think it's one of the sexiest tracks on the album. Isn't it funny how you have to sometimes work your way into some stuff?
