  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It was painful not to go see them this past summer. The night they were in town, I kept watching the online setlist and screaming. I missed hearing "bartender" and "two step" live and in person. I'm not making that mistake again.

see, I never get that feeling with DMB. Not because I'm not a complete 'tard over them, but because they, like the Dead, put out so many live albums, as well as live concert DVD's. So you can always catch some good, recent DMB whenever you want to. No, it doesn't completely equal going to the live show, but the last DMB show I went to, I had lawn seats, so I ended up watching the screen 75% of the time anyway.....

Yes! I'm not the only dork that watches the realtime setlist! :p It's a great way to procrastinate. I went to two shows this summer, down from 4 last year. I went to 1st night Pittsburgh and they opened with #41 so that made my night, then I went to Nissan Pavilion in VA. I was parked as close to the venue as you could, right up against the trees, and while we were tailgating we heard the soundcheck and they played Say Goodbye. We were practically in the woods trying to hear better, we were so excited. Then they actually played it! Aaaa! I was so thrilled. And if you can't tell I still am. :p I never thought I'd get to hear that one. Personally, I've heard Bartender and Two Step over and over (I've been to 15 shows in 4 years) and I could go without hearing them. I'm bummed I can't go to the winter tour this year, though. They're all in the middle of my finals. Oh and I've never had to worry about the lawn thing. I'm a 3rd year WH member and it's always treated me pretty good with seats. I was 10th row dead center at Pittsburgh last year. Is it next summer yet?

I'll find the thread...:D

Shame how things can get in the way of DMB, eh? I don't wanna remember the chain of events that made me miss the 3/26/05 show here in Sydney (when I got the tapers version a few weeks back, nearly made me feel many times more depressed...) but I love the fact that the shows are so readily accessible because of the tapers who tape them

It stinks that you couldn't see the Sydney show since they don't play down under very often (hardly at all). My roommate from freshman year (also a DMB nut) just happened to be studying abroad in Australia last spring and lo and behold DMB played there too. I was so jealous. I would love to visit Australia (or just get out of this country for a little while period) and she lived there for 5 months AND saw DMB. Lucky... :p
