Liberal Truth #1 The Bible is truth....except when it isnt (and it usually depends on what my favorite sin is; it is definitely not true when it says my favorite activity is sin)

Liberal Truth #2 God no longer cares how we live, he had His Son crucified so we could live as we please

Liberal Truth #3 Despite what James said in James 5:19, if someone sees a Christian brother has strayed from the truth, and tries to bring him back, he is actually JUDGING and is the WORST of all sinners

Liberal Truth #4 The Bible says that Jesus died for us and rose again on the 3rd day; other than that, any other miracles or supernatural acts that are in the Bible are IMPOSSIBLE since science tells us it couldnt happen (we ignore the fact that science tells us someone cant come back from the dead however)

Liberal Truth #5 Despite the fact that the word "repent" (or "repentance") is used 53 times in the New Testament alone, repentance is NOT REALLY necessary as long as we "love"

Liberal Truth #6 Anything that tries to prevent us from being able to live any way we please is called LEGALISM (despite Jesus saying if we love God we'll obey His commands)

Liberal Truth #7 If you think someone is sinning, it means that you either HATE him, or secretly desire to do what he is doing

Liberal Truth #8 There is no truth, what's true for you may not be true for me (wait a minute... is that truth? I thought there was no such thing as truth!)

Zaac, I'm surprised you find joy in this type of satire. It's a run off of a different "fundie truths" list and I find both disgusting. This is what is breaking up the church .

Thank you sir. I just compiled them from the many posts I have read from liberals. Since so many of them use some variation of these statements over and over again, I figured they must be Liberal Truths. Of course, I added my own satirical commentary to each one.

Not quite something to be proud of, seeing as it adds nothing to the discussion, creates very insulting stereotypes and frankly, I think it's childish. It's no better than the people whose only argument when debating with me is "well you're only 16". I have no problem with some little bits of original sarcasm here in there. But not when it trudges on and on and not when it's hurtful and assumes all people of one group follow it's less exaggerated version.

As a friend, I'm asking you to stop using it in discussion. I like you're actually debating DMagoh, I don't want to have to block you to avoid that sort of spite.

I'm not a liberal myself, but I'm sure that the liberals would agree that it is better to be a liberal than a right wing conservative. Your post is childish and adds nothing of value.

By the literalist token you use to smash homosexuals, you better sure as hell start believing the Earth is the center of the universe. That there was a global flood, that we're only about 6000 years ago, that God was somehow capable of being tired on the 7th day while being omnipotent, that disease is the work of God himself and not that of bacteria and viruses, that you DONT eat shrimp, pork or other unclean food, that if you have a wet dream you divorce yourselfr from others for a day, that if you wife menstrates you drive her out, that you beat your son and stone him for violating your rules, that you cut your hair in accordance with the law.

Wow, could not have said that better myself.

I notice an alarming trend, mainly amongst the younger Christians where these things are concerned. So young, and yet they assume to know everything. I find it quite baffling how they are so absolutely certain of things that really even we are still unsure of, yet from our experience and time in this world have drawn up a pretty good overall picture.

I often feel like I am discussing with Atheists sometimes with the attitude and beliefs they hold.

Well, this post really made me laugh and just sort of tied together all the things that I've seen transpire on CF on occasion.

As a friend, I'm asking you to stop using it in discussion. I like you're actually debating DMagoh, I don't want to have to block you to avoid that sort of spite.

Just wanted to echo this sentiment really. I don't know you particualrly well DMagoh and I do know we have incredibly different viewpoints, however I do firmly believe you are here because you care, rather than here to try and stir things.

However things like these "Liberal Truth" arguments are the kind that seem designed to stir the pot.

This is one of the most truthful posts I have seen on CF. I would love to see a liberal actually respond to any of these "truths" as I can see no way how they can argue these. If I may add one more:

I'm sorry to those that dislike this list, but you have to ask why you dislike it? It seems to me DMagoh has hit the nail on the head and to be honest I haven't seen such a precise and accurate summation of liberal Christian views.

Just reading this, floods my mind with so many past posts I have seen from those who take a very lenient view of things. It's quite incredible.

Well, some do believe many extremities. I'm not sure which category to put them into, I don't really like categorising people as liberal or fundementalist etc. I do know that you get poor examples of Christians on both extremes. However, you also get fantastic Christians on both extremes.

Anyways, I want a source providing just how fundies hate logic, peace..ect. We are just evil people for following the scriptures.

You've read something into the Scripture that it does not say. Contextually dealing with the text and what it DOES say, He stopped creating after the sixth day. It does not say that God was tired.

There is nothing that is other than the fact that God allows it to be. God does not fashion evil. But it surely results as the result of man's sin. That sin leads to death.

When I see people making all these lists, it is obvious that there is confusion about what you think God said in the OT. But the confusion arises because while you use the OT to make your point, you neglect the NT making the Word complete.

No, what DMagoh says, spites and is a list to avoid the real issue. The fundies list is exactly like that one, made to make fun of the opposing side. But since it's against your side you wouldn't like it. Don't lie to yourself. You enjoy it because you agree with it, not because of it's "truth" or anything like that.
