DJ name question

I DJ as a hobby and I'm thinking about using my last name as part of my DJ name.But a guy in radio once told me a person shouldn't use their last name as part of their DJ name. In your opinion, should a DJ use his or her last name as part their DJ name?

I used to work in the Clubs in Liverpool many years ago (security) and none of the DJ's used the word (DJ) at all. They used there full names.
