• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Wow.. you're pretty much awesome, aren't you?

Question though: Are you a bit ticked that they might be profiting a bit more from the riff than, say, you and your band... or are you totally stoked that a riff you guys came up with is that hot?

I think I'd be pretty ticked.

Considering most music coming out these days all use typical chord progressions, I'm not amazed. If you actually sit and think about it for a few minutes, I'm sure you can come up with at least 5 other songs just off the top of your head that use the same exact progression.

I suppose the same could be said for many things -- a screenplay concept, an invention idea... But, a question from one artist to another is: Are you offended when someone else releases this mutual idea, having taken credit for that idea or should you just be thankful that that art is placed out into the world in the first place - for the sake of the art itself?

Oops, that's probably considered a hijack. :sorry:

Ps. Agree with how great Disturbed is live.

That's like assuming that no one in the world thinks the same. There are similar ideas, and then there is outright plagiarism. You hear similar songs on the radio much like you see similar movies. They have similar concepts, but there is also a lot of originality. In the case of EAKyle, I'm certain it was coincidence of similar chord progressions.
