I'm new to the Forums and I'm looking for a little guidance. I wan't to know what God is. From what I here, he is this Omnipotent being who offers us "salvation" as long as we abide by his rules. I find this statement hard to believe. God at this point to us is only an Idea. There is no way to prove his existence(also disprove his existence). So I want to know since I don't want to believe what a book (The Bible - New Testement/Old/Vedas/Koran) written by man has to say.

First of all welcome to CF! 
I hope you'll find something worth thinking about here, I doubt the teens section is the best place for constructive answers though especially since most of us here are either christians or atheists.. And thereby your question would make us say stuff we are more insecure about or would even have to disagree with, and a lot of the answers will probably have an offended as well as offensive take at the topic. There's a "non-christian religion" board here too, that could perhaps provide you with friendlier and more educated replies.

Well I'd love to post here but since I'm christian I tend to look for answers in the Bible - which you specifically said you didn't want as a source of the belief, so...

Well, it's just that there are too many contradictions in the bible and such a bad reputation behind the Church, that i can't say that everything in there is true.

Well as for Christianity your are not saved by following Gods rules. You are saved by turning to God and having faith in God. Pretty much turn your heart towards God.
Maybe you can't prove His existance, but maybe make it more probable than not.
Anyway in my opinion God is omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient and all loving.
If you want I will give more detail next time.
Some would claim all the contradictions have an answer and why does how the Church acts prove whether or not what it claims to believe is true? Also it depends on in what way you see the Bible..... in my open minded opinion.

Creation is a testimony to the existence of God. Just as a building is the testimony of their being a builder or a portrait is of a painter.
How could someone look at creation and not believe in God? The shear complexity of life and the diversity.
To put these things down to chance is just deplorable. Do you know the chances of a "big bang" placing earth just in the right place in relation to the sun in order to create life? Funny to how the moon just happened to be in a perfect place too to control the waves of the sea. If the Earth was just 2 degrees off it's current angle, their would be no life on earth.
How can non-life create life? Have you ever seen this happen?
God does exist, if you search him out, he will show himself to you. He is waiting to save you from your sins, knock at the door and he will answer.

Thank you all of you. Now let me ask you, Is there any possibility that God does not exist? Also, is there complete metaphysical certitude within you that what you believe is true (I mean complete and utter certitude, not "faith")?

We are most certain. It's like the wind, you can't see it but you know it's there.
