I'm a discordian, I don't think anyone else I know here is, except maybe Rae. As for what drew me to Eris, I don't believe there is an actual god called eris, I think she's more of a metaphor for all the chaos going on. What drew me to that is the same thing that they talk about in the principia- organized religion is supposed to preach order and love but ends up spawning much more hatred and violence. I began to wonder if any religion that preached order was a good thing, and I so I just decided to keep away from religion as a whole. I talked to my friend about it and hesaid I'd probably like discordianism. At first I wondered if a religion that preached chaos is any better, but as of yet I have yet to see any wars waged in the name of discordianism, or any violence at all, really.

Aside from that, I just enjoy the idea of chaos more than order. It's great fun.

I am a semi-Discordian. As the religion is based in paradox, I don't believe it's possible to be more than somewhat Discordian. Read the Principia Discordia for more answers. There are on-line versions of the Principia easily available.

I serve a very chaotic God-type who stands in for Eris, IMO (or might be Eris in drag, having a good joke at my expense).

Hail, Hail, Discordia, a religion I did not make up!

To me Eris isn't just a metaphor for chaos, she is chaos. (And if that makes sense to anyone else but me, I'll have a go at singing The Battle Hymn of the Eristorcracy.)

Who says you can't be a Discordian Christian?
If Discordia is a hot dog, then Christianity is a hot dog bun, and the two just don't go together. At least thats the way I see the whole situation. And as I'm not about to give up Christianity, I'll have to be content being a discord loveing Christian.

Although, to quote my friend when we were discussing this once, "To be a Dicordian Christian would be pretty a pretty wild act of discordia." I'm fairly certain he was joking though.

I've never heard about Discordia before... Can you tell me what it is about?

It's a parody religion that makes a few interesting philosophical points. I don't agree enough with those points to consider myself a discordian.

Thanks I've read a little about it and I like it. I want to be a Discordian! But I think I have to read The Principia Discordia first.

Nah..that would be a pretty discordian statement.

As for the hot dog/hot dog bun statement (which I didn't include because I was just going to address this comment but I thought of this to so..) Doesn't the hot dog bun cradle the hot dog?

And besides isn't one of the tenets of discordia "Thou shalt not obey ANY of the tenets of discordia".

And if its not I'm adding it...LO!

*looks for my pope card, doesn't find one and designs a new one with construction paper and glitter*

But due to the Original Snub no Discordian is to partake of a hot dog bun.

But I had never thought of that tenet in that way. Perhaps I am taking this whole thing way more seriously then I should (this is probley the case) and should go ahead and do what I want to do.

I deny receiving revelation from that Profit of Eris!

Omar wasn't a profit. He himself said he didn't want to jeopardize the nonprophet status of the Discordian Church of Latter Night Saints.

Indeed it would be. I think the problem would be more on christianity's side, because it's not like discordians have any actual rules or anything. In fact a discordian christian would probably be one of the most discordic discordians the church of discordia has beheld in a while.
