  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Inactive reservists. See, theres this fine print when you join the military, they are getting 8 years out of you in some shape or form, and even if your discharged honorably they can still reactivate you til that 8 years is up. As for who gets called up, hard to say, probably folks who specialized in some field that is critically short on personnel at the time.

It's called "Stop Loss" in the Air Force, I don't know if it's called that or not in the other branches.

They already need volunteers from any branch to perform guard and TCN duties. Three people from my unit and sister squadron were in Tikrit served six months as guard "augmentees" and two came back alive.

I doubt this will include the Navy. From my understanding (but don't quote me on it ;) ), the Navy is currently overmanned, while the Army is (obviously) hurting for manpower. I hope enlistments go up so that those who have done their time can move on!

Yup. The Navy and Air Force are sitting mighty fat, while the Army is skraping along at about 40,000 undermanned. The Air Force has a plan called "Force Shaping Phase II" that lets active duty AF...ah..."cross into the green."

From what I understand, Enlistments of raw recruits is up, but retention is at an all time low.

I hope it's not the Navy! :( My boyfriend was going through Officer Candidate School when he was discharged for a medical reason. Hopefully the Navy has enough men.

Due to him being discharged for medical, I don't think he has anything to worry about. I was discharged medically and I know I won't be called back.

My ETS date was supposed to be Sept 16 2003. I am currently under stop loss for the second time. I have completed my 8 years of service. I even did them one better and served 10. I had to turn down a job this march that would have paid me 4 times what I make in the military because I was involuntarily extended again. I am serving in Iraq now. I have been on 4 previous deployments to include Afghanistan. I just want to get out to be with my family. Some one tell me the Legality of Stop Loss. I thought a contract was a contract.

The tricky thing is during war everybody can be extended indefinetly. During the first Iraq war stop loss was in affect for certain MOS's in the Army. Then it was changed to everybody. Bottom line its lagit. Sorry to give you the bad news.

Hmm...If I can make it to August 6th without being called, I'll be in the clear.

Until then, if I'm called, I'll go. I'll put in my 110% and I'll come home. That is, if they can get my fat butt fit for service.

Oh and what's the draft rules about that whole don't ask/don't tell thing? That was the reason I was let go...any chance that I'd be called without them changing that little rule?

I love my country, my branch, and my job, but even I know some things won't work for you.

Haven't you noticed how the Comptroller Unit on your base/post is always quick to take out any money you may owe to the government, even from them overpaying you but it takes months to get your bonus or back pay?
