  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

My grandmother was a teacher for 44 years...22 of those years she taught special education. Beyond a shadow of a doubt, those children have a purpose in this world just like children without a physical or mental disability. God's plan is good, and blessed are those given the task of loving and caring for such special little blessings.

My 2 year old, Aaron, is developmentally delayed and he is just the light of my world.

We have therapy 2+ times a week with him, the older kids and my husband come along so we all get to be there to learn how to continually teach him.

We are learning sign language-- my older kids came up to me and signed to me "More Raisins" This has been a really interesting experience for us all :)

There's nothing like seeing your special needs child 'get' or do something that they never have before-- even very primitive things -- yesterday, at therapy, he passed the ball back and forth with his therapist! It was SO AWESOME!!

Its been tough at times but I have so much hope for my baby! Its certainly brought me even closer to God because I have to ask Him constantly-- Ok, what are You doing, What am I supposed to learn here???

:D

I grew up around special needs kids, my brother being one. So my entire childhood I thought that I was the disabled one.

That being said, I pray that God will BLESS me with a special needs child. Yes I said Bless, because I count it a blessing to have a child that God himself made special. I run a camp for people with special needs and I see the light in their eyes and no matter how bad I think I have it, they show me the good in every thing. Infact the biggest influancer in my life has been my brother. He has shown me what it is like to love God with child like faith.

I never thought I was the kind of person who could handle a child with disabilities. When I was pregnant I would pray that God gave me a healthy child. Well he did. But years later, with his orchestration, he also gave us two precious little boys, that we have since adopted, that both have disabilities. We knew that they had disabilities when we took them into our home through the local Children Services Dept. But were couldn't refuse. God knows what we need in our lives. These children have brought so much joy and happiness into our home. I can't explain how much growth I have gone through because of all I have experienced with them. And through God's love they have made tremendous improvements.

The other day I was praying with my 4 year old, who has Cerebral Palsy. At the end of the prayer I said "and God, if it be your will, please heal Zach from his Cerebral Palsy". And my son said "He won't". Confused, I ask him, "why?" He said "Because I'm meant to have it". I was amazed by his wisdom. Yes God has healed him beyond what the doctors ever predicted (they said he would be in a wheelchair - but yet he is walking and now beginning to learn to run). Yes, he has his difficulties, but has healed him to a tremendous degree. I truly believe God has had his hand on these two boys and I am blessed to have them in my life.

 If you had a child born with multiple disabilities What affect would it have on you and how would you cope as parents?

my wife and i both worked for people with disablities, disablities of all kinds and levels, we still have contact, "natural supports" is what the business calls them what we are just friends....and we help them spend time with them and they make our life better.....

when we first got pregnant every one asked that question.. what will you do if your baby is disabled.. to which we replied, nothing different then you mom did.... just kidding...

we replied that we would do our best and that if God allowed us to have a child that was disabled in anyway.. that we were the right parents to handle the situation due to our time spent in that field of work.
