"Kind" is just an ancient term, today we use species which is more precise.Species didn't go on the ark, kinds did.

If you do not agree that kind = species, define kind, then.
What does it correspond to in the scientific categorization of creatures?Kind = Genus
Genus: (Latin plural genera), 1550s as a term of logic, "kind or class of things" (biological sense dates from c. 1600), from Latin genus (genitive generis) "race, stock, kind; family, birth, descent, origin" (from suffixed form of PIE root *gene- "give birth, beget," with derivatives referring to procreation and familial and tribal groups).

I don't know. I forgot to count them. Sorry.And how many genera were on the ark?
I nominate this for: POST OF THE YEAR!I'm not sure why we bother discussing the plausibility of the Ark and Flood event. If it happened, it's just miracles. I don't get why Christians bend over backwards trying to twist our scientific understanding to work with a global flood and all that. It's miracles all the way down. And I don't get why skeptics think they can throw science at this story and convince Christians otherwise. It seems so futile.
Yay! I was hoping you'd remember me with my new avatar. ♥I nominate this for: POST OF THE YEAR!
(Nice to see you posting again, Gene!)
The issue is to demonstrate to creationists why they should not expect the Flood--and YECism generally--to be taught as historic fact in the public schools. Nobody cares if they believe in it themselves.I'm not sure why we bother discussing the plausibility of the Ark and Flood event. If it happened, it's just miracles. I'm with you in that YEC and such should not be taught within the scope of science. That is a real debate to be had. I'm fine with it being in schools, just not in that context.The issue is to demonstrate to creationists why the should not expect the Flood--and YECism generally--to be taught as historic fact in the public schools. I like your old one better, as it reminds me of Artemus Gordon on The Wild Wild West series for some reason.Yay! I was hoping you'd remember me with my new avatar. ♥
It's Michael Schur (who plays Mose Schrute) from The Office. The Office is my favorite show.I like your old one better, as it reminds me of Artemus Gordon on The Wild Wild West series for some reason.
Is that you in your new avatar?
Yup -- got to school and one version of history; come home get another.The issue is to demonstrate to creationists why they should not expect the Flood--and YECism generally--to be taught as historic fact in the public schools. Nobody cares if they believe in it themselves.
Oh, okay.It's Michael Schur (who plays Mose Schrute) from The Office. The Office is my favorite show.
(Good memory!) Gene Parmesan from the show Arrested Development.Oh, okay.
Who was your first avatar? the guy behind bars with the sombrero?
Thank you, sir!(Good memory!) Gene Parmesan from the show Arrested Development.
Again, why would I assume they got creation right or any of the other historical accounts in the Bible, including those about Jesus and assume they got the ark wrong?No, it's a story of a flood very clearly. The meaning is also clear, in fact it's telegraphed. But what about the actual events on which it is based?
Kind = Genus
They? Who's they? In any case, the stories of Jesus were composed many centuries later than the Ark account, by different authors with different literary agendas writing in different languages to different historiographical conventions. Comparing the Ark account to the Gospels is like comparing The Tales of King Arthur to The Right Stuff.Again, why would I assume they got creation right or any of the other historical accounts in the Bible, including those about Jesus and assume they got the ark wrong?
