  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

In Genesis 34:1-31, we read of the tragic story of Joseph's half-sister Dinah, a girl on the edge of womanhood who is violated, seduced, dishonored, and then the young man who 'date rapes' her claims to love her and wants her for his wife. Her brothers deceive this young man who is the son of the cheif of a local town into thinking that they will make peace with him, settle down and intermarry with their people, but first the townspeople must circumcize every male, like the Hebrews are circumcized. The man in love with Dinah and his people do this, then Dinah's brothers Simeon and Levi take their swords and attack the town, killing every male. They attacked when the town was weak and defenseless, for the men were in pain from being circumcized. They took their sister DInah out of Shechem's house, (that is the name of the man who raped her and wanted to marry her.) and left a bunch of corpses and weeping widows and orphans in the town.

Then, Dinah's other rothers came across the bloody slaughter and plundered the place, they took all the livestock, the donkeys, goats, sheep, cattle, everything in the houses, and the women and children as slaves. Jacob was upset about what his sons had done, he said his sons had brought trouble upon him.

This story is included in the Bible as a constant reminder to Judah not to get carried away in anger and haste, making the same mistakes that Levi and Simeon made which cost them. Because they lost their heads, Jacob put them behind Judah in importance. Jacob's three firstborn sons were Reuben, then Simeon and finally Levi. Reuben had already lost his place which made Simeon next in line, but Simeon and Levi lost their places when they massacred that town.

Genesis 49:5 Simeon and Levi are brethren; instruments of cruelty are in their habitations. 6 O my soul, come not thou into their secret; unto their assembly, mine honour, be not thou united: for in their anger they slew a man, and in their selfwill they digged down a wall. 7 Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.

Gen 35:23 The sons of Leah; Reuben, Jacob's firstborn, and Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Zebulun:

Psalm 103:8 The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
