In Genesis 34:1-31, we read of the tragic story of Joseph's half-sister Dinah, a girl on the edge of womanhood who is violated, seduced, dishonored, and then the young man who 'date rapes' her claims to love her and wants her for his wife. Her brothers deceive this young man who is the son of the cheif of a local town into thinking that they will make peace with him, settle down and intermarry with their people, but first the townspeople must circumcize every male, like the Hebrews are circumcized. The man in love with Dinah and his people do this, then Dinah's brothers Simeon and Levi take their swords and attack the town, killing every male. They attacked when the town was weak and defenseless, for the men were in pain from being circumcized. They took their sister DInah out of Shechem's house, (that is the name of the man who raped her and wanted to marry her.) and left a bunch of corpses and weeping widows and orphans in the town.
Then, Dinah's other rothers came across the bloody slaughter and plundered the place, they took all the livestock, the donkeys, goats, sheep, cattle, everything in the houses, and the women and children as slaves. Jacob was upset about what his sons had done, he said his sons had brought trouble upon him.
