..I've forgotten how to pray...

Just quietly say "Jesus remember me" any number of times throughout the day any place, any time when you feel tired, and you'll get an immediate download of spiritual power to buck you up.
Prayer is our way of "touching" God and Jesus.
Remember when the woman with a haemorrhage touched his cloak and was cured? There ya go..
Jesus said - "Someone touched me, I know that power has gone out from me." (Luke 8:46)

Yes sometimes I do have problems praying, it's like its the words are in my chest and I just cannot utter them and when I do say something it doesn't fit what I was feeling...I tried to help myself by reading the bible more especially the psalms and when I feel frustrated I can say something I memorized or recall from the psalms, to get me started and usually by the end I'm able to pour my heart out. Try setting up some sort of pattern like first saying the Lord's prayer, then confessing your sins, then glorifying God and thanking him, followed by any problems or things from your daily life you'd liek to talk about.... Good luck

Sometimes when I don't know what to pray or more often than not am just feeling overwhelmed, I find comfort in the following scripture:

"In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will." Romans 8:26-27

When you feel like prayer and don't have anything you want to talk to the LORD about then pray the prayer the LORD gave us to pray. ( OUR FATHER WHO ART IN HEAVEN )

You also will not go wrong if you just THANK HIM and GIVE HIM PRAISE. For we can NEVER do that enough in our life time. You won't be sorry you did.

A picture in your mind is not required. Praying with your whole heart, mind, strength, and soul is.

LOVE

I'm going through a period in my life where my prayer life is lacking. It seems as though I've prayed everything that I could possibly pray. However, I talk to Yah(God) in my car, when i'm walking around the house, etc.. I picture him as this person that has love for me, beyond my imagination, and as my best, best friend. That helps my faith, when I picture him that way, because it's the truth. Alot of times, in my life, I've been "Prayed up"(filled up), and Yah is waiting on me to make some sort of move so he can continue answering my prayers

OoooH!!!! Pick Me!!! LOL!! Seriously. I didn't know how to pray. My cousin told me that she prays while driving down the road. Having time alone in private just to pray is good but you can pray whenever and however. It's not fancy and it's not pre-planned. Sometimes it is a quick "Lord, keep my friend safe.", God knows who I am talking about.

I'm just now getting comfortable praying. I now know I can say anything to God. I was chit chatting away last night after watching HG Wells "War of the Worlds". I know God heard me, was probably laughing at my dumb whatever. Yes, I was chit chatting in prayer to God.

He is our Father. Say what you feel!

Tell him anything that you have on your mind just now, just anything. Or if you have nothing to say, then tell him about that. Remember that there's no need to edit anything that you say to him, because he knows what you think about and feel anyways. It's just important to tell him so that you won't forget about him and your relationship to him will remain open.

Whn I pray I sometimes imagine what Jesus looked like, but mostly I just think of this semi-cloudy sky with a ray of sunshine so that I'll be able to concentrate on the prayer instead of some stuff I after all can just imagine for now.

Greetings,

Prayer has become so methodical that we forget the simplicity of just being! Granted there is a model that Jesus laid out in teaching the disciples how to pray but I have come to the conclusion that you can repeat that same prayer and still be not satisfied or fulfilled. I am no liberal when it comes to the bible and I take it literally, but there are times when you do not know what to pray or when you have no desire to pray- it is in those times when we ought to use every bit of energy to either wait on God or reach out to Him

In times like this, maybe you out to take walk and just talk to God along the way. How about (if you like to write) pulling out the old laptop and start writing down what is on your mind. Or sing! I mean come on King David wrote a bunch a psalms we sing, but what about you? Sing your own song! Sing to God about how you feel. Tell Him what is on your mind, that you love, maybe you hate Him (LOL), just be honest. God is all about honesty!

Tell Him your hurt, offended, disgusted, confused, angry, etc or you can thank Him. Here is a cool verse I like to remind myself with: "Be joyful always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for in Christ Jesus." There are certain steps I must take. I do need to reach out to God, but remember He has been reaching out to you. Remember He cherishes us enough that He wants us to take the imitative to talk to Him, but He is always wanting to talk to us. You get my point. Go to a place and let every bit of emotion out to God without reserve, it doesn't matter what is hidden in the heart just get it out and then you will be praying.

Regards,

SAM

God knows what you need before you tell him. He knows how to answer you, before you ask.

Like the previous posts, it's best to just kneel down, bow your head with your eyes closed and worship him... Preferably, I just get right into praise admitting his glory, magnificence and holiness. Then I thank him for as many things as he has done in my life... Including the trials and the tribulations.
Following with a prayer for all the sinners of the world, then all the christians, then your church, your fellowship groups, distant relatives and then your family... lastly you'll pray for yourself, wanting to become Christlike and like him in as many ways as possible... This method is not only an exellent form of prayer... But it also seems to create in you selflessness...

Then while you're well good deep into the prayer you'll find yourself reflecting on whatever in your life needs prayer.

Beloved, It's amazing on how much we suffer just because we don't take it to God in Prayer.

If you ever have a situation where you much make decisions in your life, take it to God in prayer

Hiya guys. just wanted to ask if any of you had a problem praying. i mean, i so want to pray alot of the time, but find myself unable to do so any of you have advice for me?

Also, when you pray, what do you picture? do you picture a portrait of God? I've forgotten how to pray...

Ask God to show you all henderences & help you remove them.

God is my friend, so I picture myself talking to a friend in the room, for He is both.

If you haven't forgotten how to talk - you haven't forgotten how to pray. There's no formula to communicating with Savior who loves you and sacrificed Himself for you. Is there a reason for you finding it difficult to pray? Are you giving more of your attention to something/one else than God? You obviously want to fellowship with Him and He wants to fellowship with you more. Try listening to soft praise and worship music when you have a chance to be alone with God and begin by thanking Him for all He's done for you. Just worship Him.
Read Revelation 5:11-14 (New King James Version)
11 Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands, 12 saying with a loud voice:

“ Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
To receive power and riches and wisdom,
And strength and honor and glory and blessing!”

13 And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying:

“ Blessing and honor and glory and power
Be to Him who sits on the throne,
And to the Lamb, forever and ever!”

14 Then the four living creatures said, “Amen!” And the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped Him who lives forever and ever.

Meditate on His glory. I'll keep you in my prayers - Jesus loves you.
