  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Different Gospels

1.Peter – Circumcision
Gal 2:7-9 as the gospel of the circumcision [had been committed to] to Peter and they [the twelve] to the circumcised

2.Paul – Uncircumcision

Gal 2:7 But on the contrary, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision had been committed to me. we [Paul and Barnabas] should go to the Gentiles

Galatians 2:7-8.

Paul is not speaking about -2- gospels, but rather -2- spheres of work – namely Peter’s area of work would be an apostleship to the Jews (circumcision) while Paul’s area of work would be his apostleship to the Gentiles (uncircumcision).

The parenthetical statement of verse 8 is included to clarify what Paul is talking about in verse 7 – “(…for he that wrought for Peter unto the apostleship of the circumcision wrought for me also unto the Gentiles)…”
Any attempt to explain verse 7 without verse 8 is to lose context of what Paul is saying. Two areas of apostleship - ONE gospel.

This is exactly the “sphere” of work that Paul remarks about in Romans 11:13 where Paul says… “I magnify my ministry…”.

The NLT states these verses very well…

Galatians 2:7 - They saw that God had given me the responsibility of preaching the Good News to the Gentiles, just as he had given Peter the responsibility of preaching to the Jews. 8 For the same God who worked through Peter for the benefit of the Jews worked through me for the benefit of the Gentiles. - NLT

If the same gospel, why the raising up of Paul.
The twelve apostles marching orders was to eventually come to the gentiles with the gospel. Why did Christ raise up Paul?
Matthew 28:19-20

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

If the same good news, why raise up Paul to do the same thing?

Because He's God and He can choose whosoever He wills to choose. Are you using this as an argument that God chose Paul to preach another Gospel? Such is not the case, since 1 Cor. 15:11 says they all taught the same Gospel. So, there goes that theory.

Yours truly in Christ,
sojourner

For the same reason He sent Hudson Taylor to the Chinese, and Bruchko to the lost hidden tribe in the jungles of Brazil, and sent me to my family and my neighbors, and sent my daughter to children in Albania, once, and sent her to children for all her life by a vision of long lines of children marching across a calender's picture as she gazed up at a picture on a calendar over seven years ago while she sat in the office of her Church's children's pastor, discussing an upcoming Bible School session planned for a sister Church in Albania, and why she teaches children in a Christian school, and why anyone is called to the "Good works" prepared for them to walk in before the foundation of the world:) -and why God called me to be a mother of seven and wife to my husband and he a husband to me, and so on and so forth:) -and is calling me to be grandma to my grandchildren now, who will arrive in a few minutes -see ya:clap:
