  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

[FONT=arial,helvetica,clean,sans-serif]last night i was on the phone with a sister in Christ that i go to school with. We prayed together before we said goodbye. One thing i notice is that she tends to speak fast while praying. I mean, imagine someone reading a book out loud in a continuous flow without stopping at any period. Thats how she sounded like, and that's not how she often talks like in regular conversations.

So let me ask someone, do you know anyone who is like that when they pray but yet different while talking? She is the only one i know that has a praying speech with a faster rate than her talking speech, so i ask if any of u here know someone like that. I wanna see if there really are people who are just specially different in their prayer than in their casual talking.

I've heard people pray like that, but not since I was in high school (I'm late twenties now). I think I even prayed like that in public sometimes when I was younger because I didn't like speaking in front of people at the time. I don't know if that's her case, but I know from theatre that when people get nervous, they recite things faster (whether it is lines from a play or familiar prayer). When I understood my relationship with God better and who God was, my prayer style changed and became more sincere, less repetitive, and more about Him - this inadvertently make you pray slower. Just a thought!

I pray a lot with Africans and their prayer speech changes as well. But they're all awesome and they've taught me a lot. African Americans, I feel, also pray differently as well =p and I've learned a ton from them too. They've all probably rubbed off on me a bit as well =x Heck a few years ago, I was afraid to pray out loud. But we know who we pray to, and we love Him :)
