Differences between the harlot and the virtuous woman:
• "And behold, a woman comes to meet him, dressed as a harlot and cunning of heart. She is boisterous and rebellious, her feet do not remain at home; she is now in the streets, now in the squares, and lurks by every corner." (Proverbs 7:10-12).
1 - clothes:
*Harlot*:
• "And he carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness; and I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast, full of blasphemous names, having seven heads and ten horns. The woman was clothed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a gold cup full of abominations and of the unclean things of her immorality," (Revelation 17.7,4).
*Virtuous woman*:
• "Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments, but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness." (1Timothy 2:9-10).
2 - Heart:
*Harlot":
• "To deliver you from the strange woman, From the adulteress who flatters with her words;" (Proverbs 2:16).
• "To keep you from the evil woman, From the smooth tongue of the adulteress." (Proverbs 6:24).
*Virtuous woman*:
• "How beautiful you are, my darling, How beautiful you are! Your eyes are like doves.” (Song of Solomon 1:15).
• "Godly Living In the same way, you wives, be submissive to your own husbands so that even if any of them are disobedient to the word, they may be won without a word by the behavior of their wives," (1 Peter 3:1).
3 - ways to get elated:
*Harlot is boisterous*:
• "For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the passion of her immorality, and the kings of the earth have committed acts of immorality with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich by the wealth of her sensuality.” (Revelation 18:3).
*Virtuous woman*:
• "Your adornment must not be merely external—braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God. For in this way in former times the holy women also, who hoped in God, used to adorn themselves, being submissive to their own husbands;" (1Peter 3:3-5).
• "A woman must quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness." (1 Timothy 2:11).
4 - Submission:
*Harlot is rebellious":
• "To the degree that she glorified herself and lived sensuously, to the same degree give her torment and mourning; for she says in her heart, ‘I sit as a queen and I am not a widow, and will never see mourning.’" (Revelation 18:7).
*Virtuous woman: submit to her husband*:
• "Her husband is known in the gates, When he sits among the elders of the land." (Proverbs 31:23).
• "just as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, and you have become her children if you do what is right without being frightened by any fear." (1 Peter 3:6).
5 - Rest:
*Harlot*: *her feet do not remain at home; she is now in the streets, now in the squares and lurks by every corner*.
• “Then it came about after all your wickedness (‘Woe, woe to you!’ declares the Lord God), that you built yourself a shrine and made yourself a high place in every square. You built yourself a high place at the top of every street and made your beauty abominable, and you spread your legs to every passer-by to multiply your harlotry. You also multiplied your harlotry with the land of merchants, Chaldea, yet even with this you were not satisfied.”’” (Ezekiel 16:23-25,29).
• "For her house sinks down to death and her tracks lead to the dead;" (Proverbs 2:18).
• "Her feet go down to death, Her steps take hold of Sheol." (Proverbs 5:5).
*Virtuous woman*:
• "She looks well to the ways of her household, And does not eat the bread of idleness." (Proverbs 31:27).
After all:
• "The wise woman builds her house, But the foolish tears it down with her own hands." (Proverbs 14:1).
So:
• to the woman: have a good weekend showing the virtue of Christ in your life;
• to the man: have a good weekend valuing the virtue that Jesus put in your wife and being grateful for this (and even for what you consider being lack of virtue: this can see a disguised blessing).
