  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hosea 13:14 From the hand of Sheol I do ransom them, From death I redeem them, Where [is] thy plague, O death? Where thy destruction, O Sheol? Repentance is hid from Mine eyes.
Can anyone tell me the difference between being "ransomed" and being "redeemed".
For example, is shows the Jews redemption in Luke 21 but in revelation it shows a different word for redeem. Anyone help me out on this?

Luke 21:20 `And when ye may see Jerusalem surrounded [#2944] by encampments, then know that come nigh [#1448] did her desolation; ............28 and these things beginning to happen bend yourselves back, and lift up your heads, because your redemption/apo-lutrwsiV <629> doth draw nigh.'[#1448]

629. apo-lutrosis ap-ol-oo'-tro-sis from a compound of 575 and 3083; (the act) ransom in full, i.e. (figuratively) riddance, or (specially) Christian salvation:--deliverance, redemption. 3083. lutron loo'-tron from 3089; something to loosen with, i.e. a redemption price (figuratively, atonement):--ransom.
Galatians 3:13 Christ did redeem/ ex-hgorasen <1805> us from the curse of the law, having become for us a curse, for it hath been written, `Cursed is every one who is hanging on a tree,'

Revelation 5:9 and they sing a new song, saying, `Worthy art thou to take the scroll, and to open the seals of it, because thou wast slain, and didst redeem/ hgorasaV <59> us to God in thy blood, out of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation,
agorazo (Strong's 59) occurs 31 times in 31 verses 59. agorazo ag-or-ad'-zo from 58; properly, to go to market, i.e. (by implication) to purchase; specially, to redeem:--buy, redeem.58. agora ag-or-ah' from ageiro (to gather; probably akin to 1453); properly, the town-square (as a place of public resort); by implication, a market or thoroughfare:--market(-place), street.

Mental "gymnastics" for the sake of showing how much we "think" we know is a fruitless endeavor.

If you dont acknowledge Pauls gospel...there is quite simply NOTHING to discuss with you.

CAPICE?
:) Of course I do.

Gala 5:18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness,......... those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. ....22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love,.
Luke 21:.28 and these things beginning to happen bend yourselves back, and lift up your heads, because your redemption/apo-lutrwsiV <629> doth draw nigh.'[#1448]

The Kingdom of God Others teach that the Kingdom of God is purely earthly, and that it will be a political and social structure enforced on earth for a thousand years at the return of Jesus Christ with
His saints to rule and reign. This theory has been popularized by the Scofield Bible. To these the Kingdom of God is the restored kingdom of Israel fulfilling the Davidic covenant. Jesus offered this kingdom to the Jews, but they refused; therefore Christ withdrew His offer and postponed it until a future time when they would accept Him as their King.

What you dont understand is how little sense you make to bible believers.
One can believe the Bible but not KNOW it.

John 11:48 if we may let Him alone thus, all will believe in him; and the Romans will come, and will take away both our place and nation.'
Reve 12:7 And there came war in the heaven; Michael and his messengers did war against the dragon, and the dragon did war, and his messengers, 8 and they did not prevail, nor was their place found any more in the heaven;

Reve 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and Him who is sitting upon it, from whose face the Land and the heaven did flee away, and place was not found for them; 12 and I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God,

Can anyone tell me the difference between being "ransomed" and being "redeemed".

Ransom used as it is in scripture is a noun. Redeem or Redeemed (past tense) is a verb.

But here is one to think about ...

Ransom ... paid to whom? Who was the ransom paid to ... ?

The popular answers down the centuries have included Satan ... or the Father.
