I dont think that correct. Thats an old heresy that was settled long ago.

Sorry I have not read everything above (yet). I don't know if this has been mentioned but Calvin did strive for Protestant unity and even signed the Augsburg Confession after it was revised by Phillip Melanchthon in 1540. The Lutherans rejected those changes and unity never took place.

The Church pryor to the Reformation was much broader. After the Reformation Roman Catholics and Protestants all defined the faith (in their councils, creeds and confessions) much more narrowly. The Apostles' and Nicene Creeds allow for some width to the faith. They are doctrinal umbrellas that all Christian Churches can agree on (There is the Filioque matter between Eastern and Western Christians, but that is minor).

I think we should have more unity under these creeds.
