  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The Didache Bible is a Roman Catholic version of the RSV that includes the apocrypha and the Roman Catholic Catechism as study notes and helps. It also includes insert explaining Catholic dogma and doctrine.

It's an excellent edition for those seeking to understanding Roman Catholicism and the RSV translation is good. It's nice to have a Protestant translation of the apocrypha (which is why I'm posting this here), previously I had been using the Orthodox Study Bible for my readings in the apocrypha, but I prefer the RSV.

My only complaint is the lack of a concordance in the back and references in columns but other than that it's a good buy.

Yours in the Lord,

jm

PS: I purchased this Bible before the (timeless, never changing tradition of the  ) catechism was altered.

The Catechism contains infallible teachings, but not everything contained within it is. Its contents are subject to development. Now, if the revision said that the death penalty was intrinsically evil, you'd have a point, but that's not what it says.

You know it was not "altered" but elucidated. That way nothing ever changes just becomes more clear.

Does it include the Didache? I have a NAB Catholic study bible that does NOT contain the Didache.
I think that is just the name of the Bible, to distinguish it from other Bible versions. The text is RSVCE and I don't remember if this one also updates some archaic words or not. There is a RSVCE2 which does update some archaic words. Both are available from ignatius.com
