Did you know in the early days of the church Sunday was a day of feast. Every Sunday they would have a great feast and take communion, every week. People started calling them cannibals because they spoke of eating flesh and drink blood which is the communion. After this grand feast they would then have worship and preach the word of God. i would love to see churches get back to this.

My question is would you go to and do you like the idea of having a feast before worship and making Sunday a many hour even, maybe all day? Would you give to a special donation box set up for the feast every Sunday? Do you think it would be a great family even? Would you prefer to watch football?

I just realized I didn't really answer your question BlueLion, lol.

I think a Sunday feast is a great idea, but after church services are conducted. The Amish and some Mennonites, have a large group meal after their service is concluded. The food is actually pretty light, since the women do not cook on Sunday, but it is still a great opportunity for fellowship. The rest of the day is usually spent together. There are bible studies, youth groups, fellowship most of the day.

I know many churches of varying denominations also have fellowship meals after their services, mine does. Yours probably does to. In a perfect world we could probably extend such outings and have a productive Sunday. Too bad things like football won't make this a likely scenario. ;)

thank you for answering. I was trying to see what people thought, I got one person so success:D You sir are thee most important person in my thread and the world because God loves you :)

I think why they had it before because if people were hungry during the sermon they would be distracted, but after you eat you want to sit around and let your food digest. However, I am a firm believer of studying Gods word on an empty stomach because its like filling an empty vessel.

I have never been to a church which had a meal before or after service. I mean we would get cookies after Sunday school and juice, but not a meal. If I hold a position in a church i would like that church to have meals. Its a great way to feed the hungry too.

What do you think about your church having a gym in the church so you could come and exercise?

maybe we could get the NFL to move all Sunday games to Saturday.:D

I just got back from Church abd we had a nice potluck meal afterwords, somebody brought some delicious baked beans. :)

Im not sure about the gym thing, its a good idea, but my fear is it might commercialize church. I am reminded of Christ's cleansing of the temple, and I fear a gym might lead us away from the true purpose of Sunday worship. I know my mind might not be on the liturgy and the scriptures, if I knew afterwards I was going to get to eat and hangout at tglhe gym. ^_^

BlueLion, I wish, but you know that the NCAA would have a fit, and the NFL doesn't want to compete with them for airtime.

As far as having a food get-together after church, I'm a firm believer in it. It's one of the greatest ways to fellowship after a service.
