Firenze, I am almost embarrased to say that when I was 8 years old, I would watch the weather Channel and then draw up my own weather maps and do presentations for my parents!firenze said:When I was a young child, I dreamed of being a meteorologist. Too much of a chicken to dream about storm-chasing though. I was practically glued to the Weather Channel.Did anyone else share this love of weather as a kid?
You just reminded me of something I used to do as a child! Back before the nutty hurricane season of 05....I remember the season of 1995. I had a map on my wall, and had tracked EVERY SINGLE HURRICANE OF THAT YEAR with little map pushpins into the map. It was so fun though...here I was...barely 12, and I had a preference as to how I prefered to read barometric pressure (Inches for normal forecasts, millibars for hurricanes and tropical systems). I was such a dork haha! The closest I guess I'll ever come is that I am my corporation's Disaster Alert Monitor, so I get to track storms and send reports to upper management when things look sketchy. I'm planning to attend a storm spotter class in Spring 2006.
If I had only gone to Mississippi State, when I had the chance. Although I'm married now, and it would be difficult, I could still hit that goal... Who knows?
Man, I used to think I was the only kid who was obsessed with weather! I used to sit in front of the Weather Channel for hours at a time if severe weather was coming..haha.
