I read this today on tvguide.com. I found it shocking even if edited, that this show would be broadcast on regular tv.
CBS is bringing cable's favorite serial killer to broadcast TV. Starting Feb. 17, the first season of Showtime's Dexter will air Sundays at 10 on the Eye network. Dexter will become the first pay cable show ever to get a full-season broadcast run on CBS, as the network's supply of scripted programs is being depleted by the WGA strike.

I don't think that's a good idea in the least. To make it acceptable for network TV, it'll have to be mega-edited and in doing so, it'll lose all the story and stuff. There's a reason it's on Showtime. It should stay there.

Though to get the unedited version, you can always go out and buy the first season on DVD.

I'm not sure how well it would work for network tv.

I'm a huge Dexter fan, and a lot of what makes the show so intense is the stuff that.... uh.... most people can't handle seeing. :)

But then again, they were able to bring Sex and the City to tv. I didn't watch it, but I'm guessing that it must've worked out with the scandalous stuff being edited out.

Dexter is like a juiced-up CSI.

It's about a crime-lab worker (Dexter) who figures out which criminals kill the people who show up in the morgue. Then he goes out and kills them himself. The irony is that he works for the same police force that's out there searching for the guy who's killing the criminals, LOL.

All I an invision is Dexter's sister being one big BEEP - cause that girl swears like every other word!
Yeah... and she has such a snarly face when she does it too.

But this makes me wonder if producers/directors create shows like this with the thought in mind that the show might one day be "edited for tv"? Because in doing so, they'd have the actors do voiceovers or they'd leave things like killing/sex/drug usage in scenes that could be clipped out without ruining the flow of things.

this show portrays the serial killer as a hero & tries to rationalize why he kills people.shows like this desensitize the sin of murder.i don't watch it.
You're in the wrong thread then.
