  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I will accept nothing but what my men have eaten and the share that belongs to the men who went with me-to Aner, Eshcol and Mamre. Let them have their share.
Genesis 14:24 {NIV}

Today's devotional speaks about the time when Abraham had to go to Sodom to rescue Lot and his family and the families of Sodom. Abraham was offered all the goods they recovered as payment but, he only wanted Lot's portion and whatever was necessary to pay his soldiers. That was it. He didn't want to be known as a man who became wealthy because of a reward given by a wicked King. Sometimes in business we are offered positions that may earn us more status and more money but, that may not be the place where God wants us to be. He wants us to be where we can give him the most glory. An example of this would be that a couple of years ago I wanted a chance to be an assistant manager where I work. The pay would've been far better than what I was making but, thankfully the Lord saw to it I was overlooked. I wouldn't want it now for all the money in the world. I could never glorify God in that position. The money would never make it worth it. All I want is what God wants me to do and to be where God wants me to be. I'm sure if I was given a chance I could do quite well in upper management but, it wouldn't be worth it. All I need is the portion alloted to me. That's good enough. I have the confidence that I can do what I do and do a good job and do it efficiently. Plus, I have just enough time to throw a little of God's love into it. That's how it should be. If I was to over-extend myself then my integrity would be busted and I would be a useless instrument. Money isn't everything it's cracked up to be. There can be much joy to be found in very little. I have family members who were rich. When they lost it all they nearly cracked. They had nothing to fall back on. Not even Christ. So the next time you open your checkbook and get discouraged just ask yourself if you're glorifying God. If the answer is yes then just close the checkbook and be thankful. I'd rather be broke and in the will of God than have everything I need and not be anywhere near the promotion that is to come.
