The best way that I've found to put a devotional together is with your heart. God will lead you were he wants to take it, so take some time to listen, and then write down everything that you hear, and feel. Writing devotions isn't so much a method as it is instruction. If you have something don't doubt yourself, I'm sure that it will turn out great!

I have been writing a devotional page for three years, I send it by email to 100 people and I log it on a website. I am in recovery from addictions and my main message is that "God is doing for me what I could not do for myself." I start with prayer and then read Scripture. Next I go to MS Word and take a quote or a Scripture that has spoken to my heart and use that as a beginning place. The text of the devotional will flow when the Holy Spirit works through you. It takes some practice, but what is important is to be honest with yourself in what you write. At first your devotionals may be short, in time they will become full. It is important to write on a regular basis, it gets easier as you do it on a regular basis. In some ways, my daily devotional has been a journal of my spiritual growth. It has been very rewarding and a humbling experience. You can email me at jralphengland@yahoo.com and I can give you the address of my blogspot where I have over 400 daily devotionals posted.......Jerry ralph
