today i thought about making a devotion for all of us on the courting couples forum. i was reading over some love quotes and thought this idea would be perfect. after all, we all need some reminders every now and then.
1 John 3:18
Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.
what this verse means to me is that instead of just saying things back it up with actions and truthful character. now we all know that every now and then we may fail, sometimes we fall harder than we ever have. however, the key is do we stay where we are when we fall or do we say hey, im not gonna let this happen again and pick up where we left off. each person in the relationship will be dissapointed at one time or another with each other. but as i stated, do we stay where we are or do we pick up our feet and get a move on toward the goal of Christ? when we tell a girl something or a girl tells a guy something we need to back it up and be truthful. never say anything unless you will back it up. since i am a guy this goes out to they guys. wanana know how to love with actions and truth? compliment your SO. buy her things every now and then, flowers, candy's and such. pay attention to the slightest details. i make every attempt to hear every single word coming out of my girlfriends mouth. give your SO your undivided attention, she should be the most important thing on your mind when she is talking to you. be spontanteous and random and show her that you care. open doors for her and walk her to her house. that is backing up love with actions and truth. if we all would follow the advice of 1 John 3:18 we would eliminate many problems. by acting on truth and letting our love speak with actions we will build trust and security.
