• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I've heard a large majority of the more passive religious enthusiasts defend the messages of peace in their religion by saying,"well we aren't all fanatics". By allowing the fanatic thrive amongst your ranks, aren't you as guilty of fanaticism? When you see the man holding up the picket sign saying "gays are going to hell" and aggressively presenting this point, do you just walk by saying "well he's right" or would you show your disdain for his aggressive representation of a peaceful (ideally) religion? If you stand by and do nothing while a man who taints and distorts the ideals you claim to love, aren't you an accomplice to the suffering he is spreading through his bladed tongue?

*note: i wasn't trying to make a point for gay rights, but i was just using it as en example. there are enough threads on advocating/scorning homosexuality so please keep it away from this thread.

For me, I would peacefully state my discontent at the aggression with which they present something. But I also strongly believe that someone has a right to free speech as much as the next person. All I can do, both to hold my peace as well as uphold my own and their rights, is to state my disdain for their methodology.

Or, you could just let him keep talking so that he shows everyone how idiotic he is.

We are to hold fellow Christians accountable for wrongdoings. I say take the sign and stick away!

Peace will come when the Prince of Peace ushers it in. Until that point, while the fanatics preach fanaticism, I'll work the crowds and preach Jesus Christ crucified and resurrected.

Wouldn't that kind of depend on what, when, and where it was taking place?

I don’t see why it wouldn’t be perfectly fine for some random fanatic to start jabbering his mouth as much as he likes, in most situations.

I’m sure there are few holes you can find in my generalization if you look, but that’s why it is called a “generalization.”

It’s a “wrongdoing” for him to say what he supports?

Do two wrongs make a right?
By being forceful, as such, are you not at as much (if not more) fault than he?

Yeah, because the last thing that those who disagrees with us deserve is the right to that disagreement. I say take their sign away and beat the snot out of 'em.

How do they find all this time to do that AND tell everyone else why they're wrong?

even as you preach the resurrection, the fanatic underminds your progress. he pierces the hearts of the crowd to a degree that causes the people within earshot to dismiss any further talk of your bible. can you then blame the crowds when they refuse to listen, or the fanatic who covered your holy book in a cover of pain and misery?
