To clarify, this is just a theory. I do not want to incite anyone to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

How credible is the theory that, for example, radical Islamists are carrying out a false flag operation against Israel by destroying the Al-Aqsa mosque?

If this plan goes well and Israel is portrayed as the perpetrator, it would certainly lead to the final escalation of the already tense situation. Muslims would be united and start a holy war against Israel.

Yes, I think Iran will get her proxies to instigate something to cause an Islamic uprising.
Iran's Mullahocracy is fast becoming desperate, their economy is in freefall and the people have had enough of their incompetence.

They now have nukes and the missiles to deliver them. They think that getting rid of Israel will divert their peoples attention and will establish themselves as regional leaders.
They ARE going to attempt it, but the result will be as prophesied; Psalms 7:12-16, Jeremiah 49:35-37, +

I don't know.

In Ezekiel 38-39, God supernaturally destroys Gog's army. It may be at that same time the Dome of the Rock and the Muslim mosque will also be supernaturally destroyed - which if that happens it will put the exclamation point to the muslims that their religion is false - ending that particular curse on mankind.

I might add that it is ridiculous the current status quo on the temple mount.

It does not necessarily have to be Islamists, it could also be radical Jews who blow up the mosque out of revenge motives.

However, Israel should rather keep an eye on the mosque. If it is destroyed and it comes out that it was radical Jews, it will lead to a world war.

There are two major muslim structures on the temple mount that could be targeted by radical Jews.... the Dome of the rock and the mosque. But that would not be "a false flag" if radical Jews blew both or either up - would it ?

I think your false flag scenario is what if some muslim extremists, trying to get a major war going against Israel, blew up parts of either the mosque or Dome of the rock - and blamed it on radical Jews ? I personally don't think it is likely to happen.

Is this just idle speculation for the sake of idle speculation? Is there any reason to think anyone is planning on attacking the Al-Aqsa mosque?

While fanatical extremists don't exactly conform to reason, I still have a hard time imagining a fanatical and extremist Muslim group attacking one of the holiest sites in Islam.

I don't see what is served by entertaining speculations like this.
