2 Peter 2:10 But chiefly those who walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise authority.
Presumptuous are they, self-willed, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.
Jude 1:8 Likewise also these dreamers defile the flesh, reject authority, and speak evil of dignitaries.
authority - kyriotes [G2963]= lordship, dominion, government. G2963 - kyriotēs - Strong's Greek Lexicon (kjv)
A series of unscriptural statements against respect for authority recently read on line.
“God never intended for us to have human governments; in fact, we were warned thousands of years ago what would happen
if we chose human governments over God:”
This statement completely misses the point of the exercise, that God can rule over the affairs of men by a faithful elect. Attempting to justify this statement with 1 Samuel 8 is a complete non-starter. This exchange makes clear that the Lord never intended to have a king over Israel, as a position of ultimate authority, to suggest that all government is unscriptural is an obvious fallacy.
“Governments are corporate fictions, specifically designed and invented by men to manage and control the assets and resources of a nation, including its people. It should be self-evident after thousands of years of human history that governments - in any form - do NOT serve the interests of we the people.”
The kingdom of Judah, beginning with David, in spite of shortcomings and less than full devotion to the Lord, as was indicated by the statement “the high places were not removed” were cited as examples of good government.. (To be clear, they were sacrificing to the Lord on the high places, in an unauthorized place and manner.” )
Godly government is repeatedly defined in scripture.
2 Samuel 8:15 So David reigned over all Israel; and David administered judgment and righteousness to all his people.
The Law and the prophets provide clear instructions for leadership.
The combination of righteousness and judgement is the necessity for Justice.
John 7:24 Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.
Josiah was a righteous ruler, whose sons received this word from Jeremiah, confirming the God of Justice.
Jeremiah 22:
15 Shall you reign because you enclose yourself in cedar?
Did not your father eat and drink,
And do judgement and righteousness?
Then it was well with him.
16 He judged the cause of the poor and needy;
Then it went well.
Was not this knowing Me?” says the Lord.
“It was the Roman government, at the behest of the religious leaders (the Sanhedrin) that crucified Jesus. How obvious does it need to be made that ALL forms of worldly governments are satanic? The saying "power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely" should explain why no human leader or worldly institution can be trusted to guard against corruption. Only God and His Perfect system of governance can be trusted to rule benevolently, and in the best interest of all concerned, free from corruption of any kind.”
The Word of the Lord states otherwise.
John 19:
10 Then Pilate said to Him, “Are You not speaking to me?
Do You not know that I have authority to crucify You, and the authority to release You?”
11 Jesus answered, “You could have no power at all against Me unless it had been given to you from above.
Therefore the one who delivered Me to you has the greater sin.”
The purpose of the elect is to prove this point.
2 Timothy 2:
11 This is a faithful saying: For if we died with Him,
We shall also live with Him.
12 If we endure, We shall also reign with Him.
If we deny Him, He also will deny us.
13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful;
He cannot deny Himself.
Revelation 20:6 Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection.
Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ,
and shall reign with Him a thousand years.
Another has insisted that there is no thousand year reign of Christ by this statement: “Jesus returns in fire and final judgment, the end.”
This in no way disavows the Millennium, it merely places the Lord’s return correctly at the end of the age. To think that the Lord must return to earth to rule for a thousand years is to COMPLETELY MISS THE POINT OF THE EXERCISE!!!
The Body of Christ as the seed of Abraham will reign with Christ Himself enthroned in Zion, and His elect reigning is his Name, in His Stead, to prove that God can indeed rule over the affairs of men through His Chosen. Isaiah 2.
Presumptuous are they, self-willed, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.
