Desperate Depths
For those who suffer Depression

The darkness brings its eerie mood
as he sinks into the depths
Silently he screams
in his world of fear and dread
His mind, tormented by thoughts
he can not explain
He drowns in his depression
and wants to escape all his pain
Inside he feels like he is dying
His eyes are dry,
yet his soul is crying
he can not find a light to expel the darkness
and is overwhelmed by feelings of hopelessness
He struggles to wake up each morning
and get out of bed
He would rather be alone
and pull the covers over his head
Life is exhausting
all his energy is spent
Just trying to get through the day
and silence the dark thoughts,
screaming in his head
People tell him to smile
and just get over his blues
People tell him to enjoy his life
and maybe try something new
They tell him to have some fun
and enjoy the life he has been given
but they dont know,
because he wont tell them
he is barely just existing
He suffers in silence
he suffers alone
Not knowing what to do or where to go
He needs a reason to live,
He wants it all to stop
In the desperate depths,
he begins to cry out to God
God! Help me please!
I am desperately calling for you
I am broken here, on my knees
I cannot go on anymore
Give me a reason to live for
Remove the dark clouds hovering over my mind
Rescue me from this darkness
and bring me into your wonderful light
From the desperate depths,
I cry out in my despair
Hello God, are you there?
God responds,
Yes, my child, I am here
What is it that you fear?
Do you fear the future?
Do you fear the reproach of a man?
Are you afraid of failure?
Are you insecure when what you once held together
is now breaking apart in your hands?
Are you grieving over shattered dreams?
Do you suppress the anger you deeply feel?
Are you overwhelmed,
when things are spinning out of your control?
Are you anxious when nothing goes right
and everything seems to be going wrong?
Are you on top of your circumstances
or are your circumstances on top of you?
Do you trust that in all things, I will give you
the strength and courage to make it through?
When you are sinking into these desperate depths
Are you filled with sorrow over all your failed goals
and disappointed in your own accomplishments?
Are you grieving over the loss of a loved one
which you held dear to your heart?
Are you living for today,
or do you constantly re -live your past?
He nodded his head,
Answering yes to all of Gods questions
and realised FEAR was most likely the reason
for his depression
What must I do? He asked
God replied,
With My WORD, remove doubt and fear
from your soul, mind and heart
When you feel like life is overwhelming
and you are drowning in despair
Call out to Me! And I will be there!
When you feel like you are at the end of the rope
I will throw you a Lifeline of HOPE
When you feel like you are sinking
reach out for My hand
I will catch you if you fall
and give you a ROCK on which to stand
I will rescue you from the miry clay
I will blow the storm clouds away
BUT, there is one thing you also must learn to do
PRAISE ME in your desperate depths
and the spirit of heaviness will lift from you
I will be with you, when you walk through the flames
I will comfort you in your despair and pain
The rivers will not sweep you over
and I will not let you drown,
I will be like a rescue boat
My grace will enable you to rise to the surface
and give you the strength and courage to float
We will do this together, just hold onto Me
Your fear will diminish
when in your heart you truly believe
That My LOVE for you,
is higher than the heavens
deeper than any ocean
and wider than any sea
