Another reason why I'm against pretty much all things nuclear. Be they weapons or power plants, the effects and byproducts are just hellish.
I think mankind really took a wrong turn on the tech tree when we started going nuclear.

I hope we can soon turn it around.

Depleted uranium is radioactive and causes all kinds of illnesses. Just ask the people of Iraq and Yugoslavia.
Look things up. Depleted Uranium is actually used in shielding!

Now the chemical properties seem pretty nasty. But that is pretty standard for heavy metals.
That's great and all, but still doesn't change the facts of the long term disaster that it is.

No, it is not. Depleted uranium is depleted precisely because the radioactive constituent, U-235, is removed for the purpose of creating quantities of fissile material. What is left, U-238, is not radioactive. It is a very heavy metal, however, and dangerous in that capacity. It has negligible radioactive properties.

Depleted Uranium - The killer that is unnoticed.

So how will the US clean that mess up?

They wont.
They will let it poison the people for 100's of years.

It is sad, but governments don't care about people, governments only care about power and control. And a sick population is easy to control and over power.

I know it is sick, but it is also the truth.

My bad. Thanks for correcting.

And at the same time people don't give a crap about what happens in they're own country.

It has little to do with power, and at the same time more of what the US needs as its running low. Fact!

All countries have turned a blind eye to the war on terror, nothing but a fake war for energy resources. Who ever controls the oil controls the future, and will likely be swift and brutal the result.

DU kills fewer people than dihydrous monoxide. Should we ban DHM?
Um, it's dihydrogen monoxide (or hydrogen hydroxide). Dihydrous monoxide would be H[sub]4[/sub]O[sub]3[/sub] (Oxygen with two hydrates).

By the way, this is just faulty reasoning. Terrorists kill less people per year than dihydrogen monoxide, does this mean we shouldn't care about terrorism?

Lucky I don't dabble in chemical voodoo for a living. :p

Well, if I go to Iraq, I'm not likely to be worried about DU... ;)

Yet you commented on it, commented incorrectly, and apparently are not interested in commenting based on understanding the subject first. Odd.

It is a heavy metal, so you should be concerned.

So sue me.

That is an immature response.

An IED is an isolated object, heavy metal dust gets on your clothes, in your hair, water, blankets, etc... It is also hard to see sometimes.
