Keep me in your prayers today... I am going to the dentist today @ 10am to get a tooth extracted... I am a big ole' wuss when it comes to needles and pain.

I'll pray too. I don't like going to the chair either, but dentists aren't evil.... just scary!

You have to remember that dentists are a dying breed. With all of the advances in dental health it is entirely likely that the dentists of the future will be experts in orthodontia (sic?), and little else. So, when you sit down in that chair today, give the dentist your condolences and let him know you are sorry he is dying. Try not to giggle too much when you say it, or he will definitely have the last giggle....

The dentist has promised me all kinds of pills that will have me so loopy I won't know even where I am....which honestly....scared me even more heh...

I've only had 2 cavities in my life...and the need for this is the result of having my jaw broken years ago...but...oh well...it's the only one out of 5 they thought I'd eventually lose, so I shouldn't complain, but.....well.....I'm a chicken heh The cavities I had were so minor they didn't even have to numb the tooth before drilling and filling, and I really didn't feel much...but...root canal....well.....that's another story heh

Just call me chicken heart when it comes to serious dental work LOL

The drills... and the cold water and suction thing that they do drives me nuts.

You survived. nice My dentist goes to my church and is friends with my parents. He is a total nut. He loves to get me to talk when he is working in my mouth though. Why do dentist do that for? lol

I think they go to the same school as waiters/waitresses who come to your table to ask how things are, only when your mouth is full.

Phew, me too.... Just a thought, but for a professional dentists have the highest suicide rate in the world, a 'drilling thought'

LOL I have wondered why dentists do that also... I think they enjoy watching people struggle!

And yes SOT... My mouth was still pretty numb when I got home, so if I had tried to say what I typed, it would have definately come out something like that. It looked like I had a stroke I was so numb... The whole side of my face was sagging. Crooked smile and everything!

Dentists aren't evil. They're just doing their job. I like my dentist. He's pretty nice and even though I've came away with sore gums before (from a simple cleaning... lol) he is a good man. He's been my dentist for as long as I can remember. Speaking of which, I'll eventually have to go and get a wisdom tooth removed. Going to the dentist is usually a minor inconvenience for me but getting my wisdom tooth removed.... I'm more than a little scared.

No you'd be surprised. They have to go through some pretty rigorous training. Don't judge all of them based on the actions of a few. They're only human you know.
