This song by Demon Hunter just released called "I'm Done."

Lyrics:

Lost in your convolution
Depleting love
Can’t keep your own solution from losing blood

Head of the snake
Leading the lost
Heeding the call

Rename your self-deception, your blessed curse
Hold back your desperation
Don’t make it worse

Ever the same
Furthest away
Loudest of all

Bury defeat
Carry the cross
Suffer the fall

Tell me I’m not numb
Hang me by my tongue
Truth is no illusion but for some
Show me where to run
I think I’m done

No sense in conversation
We fire at will
Why wait for evolution?
We’ve had our fill

Into the void
Dead in the eyes
Nobody home

Never relent
Sharpen the blade
Cut to the bone

To me, the song is about the pathological narcissism that is plaguing our culture today. People speak before understanding. Always popping off at the mouth.

James 3:4-5
"Look at the ships also: though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs. So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things."

Wow, thank you for sharing this. I have to admit this isn't my usual taste in music but I was instantly hooked. The lyrics are heavy, but I can definitely feel the truth you're pointing out. The tongue has such power, to heal or to harm, and today’s world so often chooses the latter. James 3:5 is such a sobering reminder that even the smallest words can steer the course of hearts and even entire communities.

It makes me reflect on how much we need the Holy Spirit to guide not just our actions but our speech, so we don’t become part of that destructive cycle. “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord” (Psalm 19:14).

Praying God continues to refine all of us — that we would be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger.
