"Why do those who object to tampering with the environment approve of tampering with the economy? Isn't the economy also a fragile ecosystem where a sudden change can trigger a devastating chain reaction?"
The People's Cube, List of Barely Socratic Questions
The environment is a worldwide system subject to physical laws and ways of nature of many different creatures. And these can take a long time to react to human tampering. So, in case we do something not good, often enough we can get feedback in time to change the wrong things we are doing.
But the economy can change very quickly because it is effected by how humans react. And humans can react as a whole group, very quickly. So, tampering with the economy can have much faster results or consequences. We see how just a little rumor, not even tampering, can result in a stock market crash.
But rumors alone can not change the environment
Even so, humans react according to their character. But others of us can choose not to just react, to rumors or to tampering. And it is wise not to allow ourselves to be controlled by money, or else we can be controlled by whoever is controlling the money!!
Instead, it is wise to pray and stay submissive to God in His peace, so God is deciding and guiding us

according to all He knows and plans.
And if we try to base our financial actions on how worldly and selfish people will react, now we are letting ourselves be controlled by selfish people.
So, environmental tampering might not be the same as economic tampering. And if we do things to help the environment, this can be a good investment. But I'm not sure it is wise to let our lives depend on controlling this evil and selfish world, since now God is able to do all He desires with us, not needing this evil world's cooperation.
