  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

...In one such example, an associate editor for a campus newspaper by the name of Maggie Mertens was quoted as saying, "Obama is my homeboy. And I'm not saying that because he's black - I'm saying that in reference to those Urban Outfitters t-shirts from a couple years ago that said 'Jesus is my homeboy.' Yes, I just said it. Obama is my Jesus." (2)

....One such example is a book entitled "The Gospel of Barack Hussein Obama According to Mark," written by Mark F. Bozzuti-Jones and published on March 20, 2012. Regarding the book, Bozzuti-Jones stated that it "is designed to initiate the reader into a meditation on what it means to be human, what it means to be a manifestation of God, and how Barack Obama is a unique and important manifestation of God's desire for human flourishing." (5)

...Yet another example of Obama-related idolatry was found at the recent Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina. A sixteen-month calendar, entitled "Keep the Dream" and published by a man known as James Hickman, features a blasphemous page for the month of August. The page features a picture of Barack Obama's purported birth certificate and a caption with the words "Heaven Sent." Underneath those words, the text of John 3:16 is displayed, which reads, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life." (6)

....First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama, has also used messianic overtones to describe her husband. Speaking at a campaign rally on April 17, 2012, Michelle Obama declared, "We have an amazing story to tell. The president has brought us out of the darkness and into the light." (7) In her statement the First Lady has taken an attribute of God and applied it to her husband. For as it says in I Peter 2:9, "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light."

Symptoms Of A Prevalent Antichrist Spirit!

An editorial in a Danish newspaper, citing both foreign and domestic policies pursued by President Barack Obama, is deifying the American political leader.

“Obama is, of course, greater than Jesus – if we have to play that absurd Christmas game,” opined the unsigned editorial yesterday in Politiken, which boasts of being Denmark’s largest newspaper, in publication since 1884.

....T-shirts are also being sold by vendors that cite Psalm 110:1, which says, “The Lord said unto my Lord, ‘Sit Thou at My right hand until I make Thine enemies Thy footstool.’” The graphic on the tees depict Barack Obama sitting in a chair, placing his feet upon the back of Republican nominee Mitt Romney, who is kneeling on his hands and feet.

...The month of November features a graphic of citizens laying hands on Obama while quoting Psalm 23:1, “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.”

The deifying of Obama
And yet the president's current approval rating is at 48%; he has a lower approval rating during this reelection year than both GWB and Clinton did during their reelection years. Two of the links you posted are 3 years old.

Why oh why do you continue to dredge up this same, tired, ridiculous story line. If the deification of Obama by a few idiots is such a major concern then why is he polling so badly this close to the election? Why is the race so close?

I get on my knees and I pray every night that Obama loses this election because I honestly don't think I can take four more years of Obama threads! :prayer:

I think it is likely that all this "deifying" does nothing more than incite Obama's supporters to a foaming rabid insanity and yes, violence, when he doesn't get reelected. I predict the election will be close, and called for Romney, and many urban areas will descend into choatic looting and rioting.

Not sure if this is racist or just dumb.

Actually, I just did a Bible Codes search, and came up with Obama End Run. (Link)

Obviously this means that Obama's run for re-election will end, and he won't be elected.

Also, just to make sure the code is working right, I ran a search, and it turns out Jack Black is going to start World War III (Link).

What this speaks to is the fastest denomination growing...

THE DENOMINATION OF THE IGNORANT BRETHREN!!!

It's growing fast! Believers tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine because they won't get into the word. They would rather listen to every sensationlistic idea clothed for "Christian consumption".

1 Tim 2:15 is in order!!!

It's just as bad that he's called the Democrat Reagan. What in the...?

--Inter

If only because Reagan tends to be treated like the Republican messiah. Obviously nobody believes this (just as nobody believes Obama is a messiah or divine).

There was quite a bit of absurd mania surrounding him in 2008-2009, but most of those people became jaded when they realized this "hope and change" they were voting for was nothing more than a big, heaping dose of the same old. His approval rating dropped, and 2012 is no 2008; he's having problems generating the same amount of enthusiasm that he needs.

Having said the above, though, let's be realistic here. I'm voting for Romney, but I won't be surprised if Obama wins. He still has the slight incumbent edge, and his only real opponent, Romney, is still rather unlikable. He's having just as much trouble generating enthusiasm.

By the way, I haven't seen many political bumper stickers, signs, or t-shirts for either candidate this year. 2004, and 2008 were chock full of them, but in 2012, I've noticed they seem to be few, and far between.

I don't know, most people I know are voting for Gary Johnson. Waste of a vote? Probably...although I don't want to vote for either Obama OR Romney, so what to do? I think people are pretty done with both Democrats and Republicans...no one I know is deifying anybody...we all know politicians are crooked! ;)

As far as Obama being deified, here's a thought: Could it be that Americans deify the role of the President in general? Because of course any powerful political leader is going to be deified; look at the history of the world and it's a given. We want so much for a hero to come and fix all our problems, but we know that no man can ever do that. I find it interesting that, when a president fails in any way, shape or form he is always suddenly the "anti-Christ" and is, of course, hell-bent on leading our country into ruin. I hear this from religious sects all the time, no matter WHO the president happens to be. I'm too young to remember politics before Clinton, but Clinton, Bush and Obama have all been demons from the pit of hell depending on who you are talking to. Why all the fear? Why are we more interested in America than we are the kingdom of God?

Trying to figure out who to vote for is still giving me a headache, though.
