  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Has anyone any experience and/or advice to offer when it comes to defending the teaching of the Trinity when in debate with a Jehovah's Witness, etc?

I've searched the Scriptures, which is the best source to quote when dealing with JW's since they base all their doctrine on the Bible, although this seems hard to believe with some of their beliefs being based on obvious twisting and misinterpretation. I haven't found sufficient support for the Trinity, at least not for them.

Hope this helps, I looked in the CCC. There are a lot of things about the Trinity with different scripture quotes. But this one says it best I believe.

2 Corinthians 13 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the charity of God, and the communication of the Holy Ghost be with you all. Amen. (Douay-Rheims version)

Which is a beautiful reminder of the beginning of Mass. The priest says, "the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with all of you".

Carrie runs off singing 'One in three, One in three, our great God is One in three'.
