You are walking in your home and in the living room a man is physically attacking a family member.
What would you do?
I think it would be best to stand far enough away that one cannot just leap on you. If he's taking a leap at you he's trying to take your gun away, so yes you have the right to shoot. Why would defending yourself from someone who if they get the gun will shoot you be sin? There was a man in Texas I think who saw a man beating a woman. He had a gun and he held the beater at gunpoint until the police got there. The police thanked him...so did the woman. If the guy had not stopped beating her and/or had come at the one with the gun, he'd have the right to shoot him and it would not be a sin. It's a sin to murder (plan the demise of another) it's not a sin to protect yourself.Defending self and others.
The question is that comes to mind for me is:
is it a sin to defend and protect ones self and/or ones family, or the elderly woman in a wheelchair at a bus stop being surrounded in a menacing way, and you have a concealed carry permit and you pull your gun to "STOP" any harm from coming to her, and unfortunately one of the ten surrounding the elderly woman in the wheelchair takes a leap at you. Do you have the right to shoot? Is it a sin?
Thank you kindly.
What are you referring to as nonsense? The Torah forbids standing idly by while someone is in danger.
Thank God Jesus did away with this nonsense!
What are you referring to as nonsense?
Ah, I get itThe commandments of God. Didn't Jesus come to do away with them? This would include the abolition of the commandment not to stand idly by while someone is in danger.
first i would trust God that he would not let this scenario happen .Having asked the lord in prayer that he protect my family from just such a thing .
we are believers in the Lord Jesus are we not ? we believe in the word of God do we not ?
Did he not say "whatever you ask in my name ,i will do it " ?
there was a time we visited friends one afternoon and they invited us to stay later and have dinner .. i got an uneasy feeling in my heart and the lord was telling me not to stay, but to go home .
But i was "having fun" (as some put it ) and so i did not listen to the Holy Spirit . we got home 4 hours later to find we had been burgled while out.
Had i listened to the lord and obeyed his leading ..we would have been home and not been burgled .
walking in the holy Spirit is all about loving the lord and learning to live a life surrendered to his leading
and trusting in him -in all things- .
over the years i have heard so many testimonies or the lord protection when folks have called upon his name .
my own brother in law was out street witnessing one evening ..he did a sausage sizzle on the street and gave them away and told people about the lord Jesus while he cooked it for them .
one night a large group of drunken youths approached and they were very rowdy and obvious trouble.. as they approached by brother in law said .. two large men came up to him from his left and they stood on either side of him .he said they stood very close to him .he said hello ans they said hello back.. he asked them if they knew about the Lord Jesus and one of them said "yes we believe the he is the son of God and he died for the sins of the worlds and rose again to life ."
After the large group of youths had passed by ..the two men walked away from him ,crossed the road into the dark.. and he did not see them again..he did not see where they came from nor where they went .it was only after he realized he had been protected by Angels.
so what does the word of God say on the topic ?
"trust in the lord with all thy heart and lean not on thy own understanding "
Isaiah 41:10
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Psalm 91:1-16
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler. You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, ...
2 Samuel 22:3-4
My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge, my savior; you save me from violence. I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies.
My ex doesn't even let our kid go to a married friendly woman who has kids alone for fysiotherapy since he had a woman approaching him as a kid who wanted to take him with her to get raped. I had that too, but I thought this was maybe a bit too much, lol she was very offended, but there are idiots everywhere. I never let them go alone somewhere. For the rest I have no choice but to believe God for protection since having weapons is illegal here and my 7 year old is stronger than me.Well as great as it sounds, just to trust G-d, G-d also says one who doesn't take care of his family is worse than a heathen. Do you think that means that only can simply make G-d do something He has assigned you to do? If you trust Him in all things, wouldn't that mean, by necessity, that you would listen to Him when he says take care of your family as He has delegated that task to you? And do you think then you'll just pray away an intruder? Well as great as that sounds, bad things happen to good people, and taking precautions are in fact what you're required to do.
A wise man sees trouble and plans for it. Having been in some situations where people have been hurt, I am not as naive as I once was.

It does not just "sound "great to trust God it is an essential of faith without which it is impossible to please God . there s no greater way to take care of ones family then to trust in the one true living God .a wise man "puts his trust In God "
This is what the LORD says: "Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the LORD.-Jeremiah
not only do i think we can pray away an intruder but also cast out the demon from him inspiring him to do the evil .. as some have testified of doing .
your high ideals are so wonderful from the carnal mind of youthful strength ... what happens when the head of the house is an elderly person of small stature or a mother of extremely slight build .. where is the confidence in the arm of the flesh then?
we must never advocate unbelief and mistrust in God .we are never wrong to trust in GOD .never .
the trial of our faith is so difficult at times ,but shall we cast it off ? To what end ? God is able to heal, restore ,reconcile, deliver, -God is ableAnd yet I trusted God for the protection of my children. I can see how well that went.

faith does not base itself upon what we see ..but upon knowing that God is able to restore all things .knowing he is able to do what seems impossible to us .because he is .It is said that what you ask in His name you shall receive. I asked for protection for my children in His name and didn't get what I asked. My trial of faith doesn't need to include my children being harmed in any way shape or form, especially when I prayed for their protection.
If this is the God that I am supposed to serve, I may need to start to reconsider serving Him.

Look Michael, I am in a really bad place right now and have been since I found out about my daughter. No amount of He will restore or renew or whatever will help me right now.
I am in the grieving process and am still in the anger stage about it. Certainly doesn't help when I found out that charges will not be pressed by my daughter's mother.
My faith is in the gutter currently and will be for some time.
If her mother is putting her daughter's needs first, she is quite right, imo.
I am sorry.
The monster needs to be taken off the street.
Would it be better if he isn't put in jail and he does it to another girl?
