Unfortunately, negatively conditioned leftists and liberals--and even too many conservatives--believe the First Amendment requires that communities have not the power and God-given right to 1) buy from and sell to whomsoever and whatsoever they will and 2) to employ whomever and whatsoever the will.
Americans once had the God-given right to exercise the liberties I have referenced in points 1 and 2. These liberties/freedoms allowed Early Americans to self-regulate their communities, thus preventing the establishment of nation-destroying belief systems.
You speak as if you support individual liberty yet you apparently have no problem with certain unjust anti-discrimination laws/amendments that have stripped Americans of the God-given rights referenced in the above-mentioned points, thus stripping their ability to prevent society-destroying belief system form taking root and spreading.
The 1st Amendment literally says nothing that would result in the removal of rights mentioned in points 1 and 2.
It continually amazes me that liberals attempt to compare today's America with early America but only make reference to some of the freedoms operative in early America but not those I have referenced in points 1 and 2. The end result of applying the first amendment guarantees while also eliminating the god-given freedoms I have referenced in the above points has resulted in what has already occurred and what is occurring in the US, namely, the establishment and spread of godless, society destroying belief systems. A prime example of this is local governments giving permission to Satanists to set up icons/monuments and praying before a public, governmental meeting.
And of course the other laws removing the teaching of Christian principles in schools, colleges, and universities has further majorly contributed to the establishment and spreading of godless belief systems within America and other nations.
One of the basic principles of our country is that the government will establish no religion or prevent the free exercise thereof. If Christians are allowed to set up icons/monuments and pray before a public, governmental meeting, then that right must be granted to all, including atheists, Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus, etc. If they are prevented from doing so then the government is favoring one group over another, which is illegal.
Regarding "points 1 and 2" it is against the law of the land -- the entire country -- to discriminate. No state, city, or town, or person can be allowed to discriminate. I have no idea where you got the idea that it could be otherwise.
Freedom is a difficult value to accept when it applies equally to everyone. You don't like the idea that everyone is entitled to be treated equally under the law, and that Christians should not be favored, but that's the way it is. It doesn't matter what your race, creed, sexual orientation, country of origin, religion, gender, etc., you are entitled to be free and be treated equally under the law.
For example, it's not up to one county clerk in Kentucky to refuse to issue a marriage license to a same-sex couple.
She was breaking the law by refusing to carry out the requirements of her job. It's not up to a Colorado bakery that serves the public to refuse to bake a wedding cake for a same-sex couple.
That is blatant discrimination. It is not the right of the President to exclude people from entering the United States because of their religion.
The court ruled that his executive action violated the First Amendment.
Like it or not the establishment and spread of godless, nation-destroying belief systems/ideologies, such as Islam, Satanism, and Secular Humanism, Leftism (really??), etc. is perfectly legal!!
Nobody has the God-given right to exercise certain liberties when it results in the prohibition of the liberties of others. If you don't like the way things are going in this country then exercise your legal (not moral) right to change whatever you feel needs to be changed. That is democracy. It is useless to stand on the sidelines and demand that the country should be what you think it should be. In a free society nobody will pay attention.
