Folks, I'm going to let you in on a deep dark secret about Windows 10 forums that few readers know: Most of their solutions don't work.

Windows 10 is designed to be an upgrade to Windows 7, 8, and 8.1. In addition, some people have installed it on souped-up computers designed for Vista and even XP. The result? No operating system in history has ever been loaded on so many different types of machines. The results? There are many possible causes, and therefore many possible cures, for problems.

I have seen extremely-complicated cures posted for problems, and I posted simple cures for the same problems. Most of the time, neither cure works, although all of them work some of the time.

Recently, I solved a complicated problem with a simple solution. Another poster explained that my solution was only a work-around that did not really solve the problem However, his complicated solutions (He had posted several) did not work, while mine did.

About 1/4 of Windows users in the US are using Windows 10, and most of them are having no serious problems.

Yesterday I found the largest unofficial Chrome forum on the web. They get few posts, and some of their topics haven't had a post since February.

Meanwhile, the Windows 10 forums are full of problems that the writers can't solve.

Hi Vince; let me see if I can distill your info here just from what you posted:
1- There are complicated problems.
2- There are complicated cures.
3- There are simple cures.
4- some work.
5- Some don't.
6- one complicated problem the complicated solution didn't work.
7- Your simple solution did.
8- 25% of windows users use 10= users (approximately 135,000,000 by latest statistics) in USA.

9- How many complicated solutions out there=a lot.
10- How many simple solutions out there by Vince= 1? a few?

9 divided by 10 (a lot/a few)= 1,777, 000/ 2= 888,000 or the percentage 10 of 9= 1/888,000 = .ooooo1126126126126-->e%
11- so your sample is approximately .0000011261.2612612616% of the known solutions.
12- Conclusion? Sample too small of a size compared to the known solutions out there; by a factor of = a lot.*

A chart to consider on the Windows 7 VS 10 contest:

Excellent post, Mnorian, with applicable statistics.

Applicable but it's pseudo math.:p The numbers I just picked by guessing:

8- I took the number of PC's in the world using Win 10: 270,000,000 and dived by 2
9- 1,777,000 solutions was a wild guess; probable high;and then dived by 2 for no real reason.
11- I divided 1 by 888,000 with my calculator and then just guessed where to put the decimal to make percent; then added another decimal point half way down the number. 1 is actually .0001126126126126% of 888,000 by the percentage calculator from this web site: http://www.geteasysolution.com/1-is-what-percent-of-888
12- But the conclusion here was right. When your talking about anecdotal evidence it's not necessarily true or reliable, because it's based on personal accounts rather than facts or research and the samples are so small you can not draw a reliable conclusion.
So that's why I made up this little exercise; to see if anybody would notice my numbers were in error and to show you can't or at least shouldn't draw conclusions from small anecdotal user forum sites when we are dealing with PC numbers of 1/4 billion.:)

This was the clue that it was meant as humorous post.

ou do realize that by posting false numbers you damage your future credibility.

This was the point of my posting this; the tech forums that use small sample size anecdotal type of reports damage their credibility and people looking at tech reports without running the numbers/math for themselves are gullible.
