IF Jesus had left an heir would you think that bloodline was special? I think Jesus was of the lineage of King David etc etc right? If a living heir were found would you exalt them? I would not. I'm just curious if anyone has givin this any thaught. Some monk would probably write a book about it and it would be worse than being a movie star, the poor guy/girl would have no peace, unless it were kept a strict secret.

Jesus shared DNA with Mary. The scriptures only speak of Joseph's lineage to David because they looked at the man for lineage. But it has been ascertained that Mary shared that same blood line which would only be proper.

As to children or someone sharing Jesus' bloodline that is not possible. Jesus had no siblings and he was a virgin at death.

A heir is wishful thinking for the ignorant and fanciful.

The assumption of Mary means there are no relics of Mary and we know also that there are no relics of Jesus. The only thing we have of Jesus on earth besides spirit is his flesh and blood in the real Eucharist.

It's an interesting question. The first thing I'd consider is whether or not this would undo any essentials of Christianity. It doesn't appear as though it would.

Mormons believe that Jesus ascended AND THEN came back down to continue his ministry in another place. That's certainly unconventional and unprovable, but it isn't a clear refutation of the Bible account, and it hasn't kept Mormonism from growing and its members from thinking they follow Christ. That Jesus could instead have ascended to Heaven to be seated on the right hand of the Father, having left an heir on Earth, seems to me less theologically difficult than the Mormon belief.

But I think I'd have to disagree on the place of the heir. I'd see him as someone that the world would consider special, probably something like the Dalai Lama.

The early church writers were unanimous in stating that Mary remained ever-virgin. Jesus did have either cousins or perhaps half-siblings from Joseph from a possible previous marriage. One of them was James, bishop of Jerusalem.

More important is the spiritual lineage. We can see this because James was not the chief of the apostles, highly respected though he was, but Peter. Early writers such as Irenaeus (2nd century) stress this, and he gives the succession of bishops in several places, especially Rome.

That succession has been continued to this day.
