I don't think even Christians consider David to be a saint.
I beg your pardon?
Have you ever heard the term: Old Testament saints?
Psalm 30:4 Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.
I am sure that there were some. David was extremely human and not very saintly at all.
I take it a person becomes a Christian, before he becomes a saint, in your opinion?
If so, why did Paul write:
Romans 1:7a To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints:
1 Corinthians 1:2a Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints,
2 Corinthians 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, unto the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints which are in all Achaia:
Ephesians 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:
Philippians 1:1 Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:
Colossians 1:2a To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse:
Those epistles weren't meant for Christians?
Methinks you're thinking in terms of Catholic saints.
Didn't I ask you to define what you meant by saints? Pointing towards examples is not a definition and all I can go on is the definition of others in that case. It is not my fault if you are using a faulty definition of "saint".
Yes, Jesus is given the pre-eminence, even in the creation events.
David K. Bernard? In the meantime, have you not forgotten someone?
Careful now.
Elohim
Jesus
?
Is something wrong?
Only you can answer that question.
You were asked: Which God do you think did the creating?
To which you replied: Elohim.
Then you added: Jesus
Now you have added: The Holy Spirit
Don't forget it, Christian.
A lot of your replies to me are like ... what's that saying?
An enigma wrapped inside of a quiz wrapped inside of a blanket?
(Something like that.)
If Jesus sanctifies us we are saints. Others are ain'ts.The saint part is extremely dubious and pointing that out is not a violation of the rules here. I do accept that you are a Christian.
If Jesus sanctifies us we are saints. Others are ain'ts.
A saint is someone who is sanctified.
The words SAINT, SANCTIFY, and CONSECRATE, all come from the idea of being "set apart" for service to God.
In Baptist theology, there are three types of sanctification:
- initial sanctification = being set apart for service to God; saved; born again
- progressive sanctification = growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ; being conformed to the image of Christ
- complete (or final) sanctification = occurs at death; also known as 'glorification'
I contend that we won't be "Christ-like" until we get to Heaven.
Ouch!If Jesus sanctifies us we are saints. Others are ain'ts.
Still not a very satisfactory definition. I am sure there are many that think that they are sancitfied by Jesus that aren't. Can you be a bit more specific?
Still a whole lot of nothing.
