  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My husband and I went to Charlotte, NC today and saw the dead sea scrolls! It was real exciting! They had tons of other artifacts like bowls, pots, combs, lamps, plates, cloth... all kinds of things from the bible time periods. The scrolls were kept in these boxes that were temperature controlled and the lights in the boxes would go off and on so not to fade the scrolls. It was awesome! If you have the opportunity, go see the Dead Sea Scrolls! ;)

I saw the exhibit (assuming it's the same one) in High Point, NC last year. If you haven't read Dr. Craig Lampe's book, The Forbidden Book, I highly recommend it. He is the curator of the travelling "Dead Sea Scrolls to the Bible in America" exhibit. He is also curator of "The Bible Museum" in Arizona. Check out their site: http://greatsite.com

I assume its the same or a similar exhibit that came through Houston here 2 or 3 years ago, and I saw it then. It was really, really neat. I was impressed.

What dissapointed me, was I went to the Shrine of the Book in Israel, and expected to see an even better version of that, but there was precious little of it there. You have the famous "Isaiah scroll" in the middle of the place, but because it's so valuable they rarely have the real thing displayed, what they have out is basically a color copy of it. I was extremely disapointed.
