Who are the dead that are ressurected when JC comes the 2nd time? My sister asked me this and I realized I'm not sure.

I think [but it's a guess] that it's the jews who have died since JC walked the earth. They get a 2nd chance, but hmmmmm . . .

Can't find THE answer.

Can anyone help me out here?:help:

i never did get the whole "the sinners are going to get a second chance when Jesus comes back" because how would that be fair to those who have already died and went to hell. so i dont see why it would be any different for the Jews. please correct me if i have misunderstood the question. i hope you get the answer you're looking for:hug:

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them who are asleep, that you sorrow not, even as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also who sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not precede them who are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.

The bodies of those believers who have died shall be raised up first. Then those who are alive at the time will be raised in glorified bodies.

It might help you to understand that when we die, our spirits go to heaven but our bodies are dead. But Paul teaches that we will be resurrected physically, like Jesus, at that future time. Those that are resurrected at the rapture/resurrection are the dead in Christ. Their bodies are raised as imperishable bodies, joined with the spirit. The living in Christ are changed to glorified bodies.

So all the dead bodies of all the dead believers of JC will rise first?

Okay, but why do the bodies need to arise? We're going to get new ones? Is it a trade-in sort of thing? What about those people who got their earth bodies vaporized? Or the ones that are just plain old and rotten to bits?

I'm really asking here? Don't understand . . .

I can't explain how it is done, but just that it is God who does it. But yes, according to I Thessalonians, the dead in Christ rise first and we are changed to glorified bodies and we meet Christ in the clouds. I corinthians 15 also deals with resurrection.

There are ashes around this earth somewhere of Christians that have died by fire and such, it will not be a problem for God to ressurect those old bodies, or ashes, with the spirits. So they will have the same body, but changed, corruptible putting on incorruptible.

NO kidding, The Lord made man from dust from the ground anyway!!
I think about my love ones who have passed on. Some preacher talked about how buried bodies (the belivers and the little children) are like a seed that is planted for the harvest. They are the first fruits, they will rise up when the SON of God comes. Oh happy day, when I get to hold my little dinky doo again.

I can quite see how Thes. is talking about someone 'sleeping' or dead in JC. But I don't feel as sure as all of you that those who died before JC comes are the ones.

Anywhere else I can read about this?

How does this jell with me seeing Grannie after she died? [she talked to me]

It's all strange and wonderful:D

It has nothing to do with the dead being raised up.

ahhh, now I see part of your question. You are referring to the OT saints?
The OT saints had faith in God that He would send a Messiah. This was first promised, though not real clearly, in Genesis 3:15 - the seed of the woman. That was not about people and snakes. The promise is clearer to Abraham and on.

So, they were saved (though not till the death of Christ) by beleiveing in a future Messiah, while we are saved by beleiving in a Messiah who has come and is in heaven at the right hand of God.

The physical resurrection of the OT saints, then, is probably included with the dead in Christ. Some beleive it is later.

Now this is a different topic. I am hesitant to beleive it was really your Grandmother. But say it was...wasn't her body still dead? Were you seeing her in the flesh, or in the spirit?

I saw Granny after she died. She was 96 and my foster grandmom, so I'd never seen her young, never seen her in anything other than a night gown. But we had a strange wonderful love connection.

The night she died. I woke up and she was at the end of my bed, dressed in a black dress with gold buttons, black hat with net, and a beautiful swirly broach. She didn't speak to me in words. Just kind of in my mind. I looked at her granddaughter in the double bed with me, but decided not to wake her because it would have scared her. I pinched myself real hard to see if it hurt and I was awake. The next day I had a bruise.

Granny wanted me to know she loved me and she was okay. I laid down, for a while then sat back up. She was still there. She smiled. And told me she'd stay til I went back to sleep. She looked soooo good.

The next day I told my foster mother and she said those were the clothes Granny used to always wear to church. She ran into her room, dug in her cedar chest, and brought out an old picture. Granny was wearing the clothes and the broach I saw her in.

She looked solid, but I somehow knew she wasn't.

It was wonderful. And a blessing for a bereaved foster kid.

Kua2u,
I personally believe that was your Grannie. I have heard people close to me say they were comforted by a recently dead loved one, not for long, but comforted. Now as for places that are supposed to be haunted, or psychics talking to the dead that they claim are floating around the earth, i don't believe this for a minute, if there is anything there it is not the spirit of a human. If you look at Revelations 6, there are spirits that are asleep under the alter in heaven, in Revelations 7 they are all awake and praising the Lord. They are woke up and given white robes, then told they must rest awhile longer. I would imagine that once one dies, it will seem like minutes have passed instead of years or however long they have been dead, till the ressurection. I'm of the impression that God lets some people go and comfort a loved one sometimes shortly after their death? before they go to their rest? I know this is not biblical but i have heard stories like yours before.

I too think it was Grannie. In spite of the many people who tell me it can't have been. JC knew our connection. He gave us to each other. And it did comfort me to know that Grannie was vital and happy again. I soaked in Grannie's love and kept it to warm me on many a cold night and day. That's what love does. Thanks again. It means a lot to me when someone else thinks JC might have permitted this encounter between us.
