  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'm sure some of you've read about the DDOS that anon is carrying out against the scientology servers as well as the blackfaxing and prank calling that are going on.

My question is this: Does this fall into the realm of unethical and immoral?
No, for Anonymous acts above and beyond such petty notions as 'morality'.

Besides, Scientologists deserve a hell of a lot worse than a DDOS.

Yes.

Can't help rooting for 'em, though...

The other day I passed a bunch of Scientologists offering free 'stress tests' and handing out Dianetics books. It was all I could do not to shout CULT CULT CULT CULT CULT as I walked past. Honestly, those people are dangerous. They have a navy. With guns.

*Network Tech Hat on*

A DoS is ethically dubious, regardless of who it is perpetrated against. However, with the resources available to Scientology, I'd think they'd be able to respond to and recover from a DDoS quickly...

*Network Tech Hat off*

...but a DDoS on the Scientology servers is funny. :)

Wow! I'm only one of two people to actually vote No. You guys need to be more honest with yourselves.

I don't think it's dishonest to consider the act 'ethically dubious' and nevertheless to be rather pleased about it. In fact, it's more honest than pretending that it's perfectly ethically okay!

If it's any consolation, I was the other person who voted, and I'm a heartless monster :)

Exactly. A DoS is unethical, regardless of the victim.

Just some victims, though...you can't sympathize with. Like if someone DoS'd Phelps' site, I'd cheer...and still say it was unethical.

Just funny. :)

I'm the third .

Anyways, I voted no because the attack itself is not immoral. Launching many (and by that I mean a lot) for request to a server is not morally dubious. Maybe the reasoning is... but I don't think so in this case.
