• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Day treatment offers people who need intensive psychotherapy and care, but may not need to be inpatient in a hospital. The routine varies, but it probably includes group therapy sessions, individual therapy sessions, psychiatric visits, and life skills training, if needed. The length of the day varies, but more than likely it would include eating lunch there.

Good luck.

Ah okay. It sounds very interesting. If I get my Medicaid, I'll be able to go to day treatment therapy.

Hi PeaceLover.

I'm sure that you'll be able to get Medicaid if you're unemployed and suffering from a mental illness as serious as BPD. If the medicaid doesn't work out, there are many, many other social service programs that are more than willing to help you in this department. I've been there before and would be more than happy to help you find such programs if need be.

I know we often have our differences politically and theologically, but everyone needs support every now and again, and I'd be more than willing to be a friend in a time of need. I'm only a PM away.

Hi everyone. My therapist wants to put me in a day treatment program once I get my Medicaid. What exactly is day treatment therapy all about? What goes on during your time at the center?
Some day treatment programs have sliding fees for those who do not have insurance. As Trish shared, the activities I won't repeat that. Depending upon the program, it's typically multiple times a week up to daily, and some programs have a day program and an evening program. It just varies by agency offering the service.
