Another semi serious topic....

Do you find it harder to get a date now in our 30's? And is the dating life harder than in our 20's?

I personally find it much harder. BUT, when I was in my 20's and dating, I was in every bar in town. I had more opportunity for dating than I could shake a stick at. I think being a single Christian, the where to go to meet other single Christians is the issue. I don't know about you, but I just can't start a conversation with someone in the grocery store.

I used to think that online dating services were for people that were just socially inept. Either I was wrong, or I'm socially inept because I have been considering it!

No, I think it's getting to be the new 'norm'.....esp. being in 30's with kids, career, etc. Who has time to have a social life anyway?

I tried 'online dating' and I'm definately not "socially inept"......but there are some 'quirks' to it too. I, personally, didn't care for it......but it is a good option for people in their 30's (other than the grocery store )

Even at church it is so hard to develop a relationship enough to even date. And so many are afraid of committment due to this or that.

I almost wish for those days back because I think we were more innocent (as in child like) in our approaches about dating in gerenal.

I am considering it and I am a social butterfly.

With our schedules it seems to be a good way. However, I am wary of the screening process.

I will definitely say that dating in my 30s has been more challenging but like BB said, when I was in my 20s there were not only way more outlets and opportunities but for me, I wasn't looking for anything serious (unlike I am right now). And for the most part, guys my age that I have met aren't looking for anything serious.

That means that I'm tired of my friends trying to "hook me up" or play match-maker.

I think it was alot easier to date in my early 20's because most people at that age didn't have the baggage that most people carry around when they are in their 30's. I've noticed that most guys I've met are either just looking for a good time, or are so scared of any form of a relationship because some selfish bimbo broke his heart. Anyone else find this to be true?

Yes, indeed I think it is harder. As a 30 something single mom, I don't have a lot of time to be places to meet people. I'm busy w/the kids and work. I won't do online for many reasons and from experience. Not many choices left. I do have a wonderful church, which tons of options lol...but I never attend the singles events either so it's hard to meet people, and my church is also very big. At work, NOT a good idea, been there done that, don't fish in your own pond type thing. It's horrible when you breakup since everybody is in your bsns.
I don't know where, honestly I don't care if I date or not, since I date for fun really, it's not a pressing matter, timeline or tunnel vision dream/idea I have of say...getting married so I must do whatever it takes lol.

I decided to just occupy my life w/other things, you know, the usual, work, home, chores, kids, church. I also decided on getting a puppy and that will take a lot of time/emotional investment and keep my very distracted. On the wknds I'm not w/the kids, I'll take her to the dog parks and enjoy some exercise.
Of course as I'm trying to occupy my time w/a puppy, my brothers gf lights up excitedly saying, oh girl...you KNOW those dog parks are full of good looking, caring guys. Any guy that loves his dog and is an animal lover is a good catch.
To which I figured to rest my case. LOL...wouldn't that be funny, here I"m looking for ways to distract myself to avoid dating and I'll be going to places full of guys lol.

AFT LOL, funny! Guys w/dogs are magnets btw. Well, unless it's a chihuahua then I'd look the other way lol. I also LOVE cats, and have a beautiful little guy myself, but yeah, best keep them away from the dog parks.

Oh, but seriously, never buy a dog from a pet store.

Find either a) a reputable breeder (stay away from online advertisers using paypal for example)
or b) adopt a dog from the pound, and this only after researching the breed mix and spending time w/the dog. Maybe even foster the dog for a bit to see what it is like in all environments and with your family.
