I think this is the correct forum for this :crosses fingers; I just wanted to share.

Today my teacher got onto the topic of evolution and I said I did not believe in it. She said it is scientifically proven, and I said not even close, many scientists dont even believe it. She sais I had to learn it so i went on about how it was unfair she could teach a theory such as this like it is truth when it is JUST A THEORY, yet I have no stand in my own religion, in the classes. Some new kid (obviously doesnt know me enough to know Im friends with pretty much everyone)called me a jesus freak told me to sit down and shut up. My friend Joey (who the kid was becomign friends with) stodd up in my defense and said I have the right to say as I believe as much as anyone else (he says he 'believes' but religion is conformity) so we got into this whole debate and it ended up I, and two fellow christians in the class, got to express our belief on creation, and God, taking up most of the teachers times with questions from classmates. Near the end, though, some kid yelled out 'makes a lot more sense then coming from monkeys'....
I dont know...I thought it was pretty awesome...

Congratulations, all you did was waste the teacher's time.

Creationism, as a scientific theory, has been falsified. There are simply alot of occurences in nature that cannot be explained by a young earth or the special creation of species.

As well, creationism is a matter of theology and should be kept out of a science classroom.

Pretty neat story! I admire you standing up for your beliefs but trust me, whether you agree with evolution or not it is worth learning about.
Read my signature and take it to heart!

Whether you eventually agree or dismiss evolution it is worth learning about.

Learn how science works before spouting any more ignorance.

That was neither nice nor christian like wblastyn. Just because you believe something different then what she does does not give you the right to be rude! Please learn some manners before you post again.

neph, imagine if you found a web-forum where everyone constantly mis-interpreted some of the most basic parts of the Bible (not Genesis for the sake of this arguement). No matter how many times you corrected their mistakes, they came at you again and again with the same hackneyed arguements.

That's how the TEC's feel everytime a YEC posts.

I would feel very frustrated. Are you therefore justifying being rude as long as it's because the person was frustrated? I would suggest to the person who is so frustrated with argueing his point that he becomes rude to anyone who disagrees with him to take a break.

Are we not supposed to try to be like our Lord? Isn't he our example? When do you ever see Jesus Christ being rude with people after he preached when the people didn't understand? Do you ever see him justifying others for their rudeness because they happend to be frustrated? Now I'm not sure what wblastyn's reasoning was by his choice of words but I easily took their meaning in a rude way.

Is this forum all about proveing yourself right and others wrong and pushing your agenda forward at all costs? If so I will gladly step aside and let you guys go at it!

neph, stop pontificating before I have to take your soap-box away. You can make an Appeal to Emotion all you want but that doesn't prove your case.

a.) I was giving a reason, not an excuse.
b.) The occasional outburst should be let go. You haven't been here long enough to know that people like me, wblastyn, and others are constantly lambasted with the same arguements.
c.) Jesus was perfect. Admonishing me for not copying him 100% is a bit silly.
d.) T.H. Huxley was an evolutionist, and Darwin's strongest contemporary supporter.

And what case do you see me trying to prove? That wblastyn was out of line? I'm sorry but I need not prove anything, his words stand alone as proof.

a.) I was giving a reason, not an excuse.
And since your not the person my scorn was directed to you had no reason to do so. I did answer your question anyway, sorry, I have learned my lesson and will leave you in peace.

b.) The occasional outburst should be let go. You haven't been here long enough to know that people like me, wblastyn, and others are constantly lambasted with the same arguements.
I have been here long enough Bushido216, you are mistaken. Because I don't post here doesn't mean a whole lot. What you characterize as an occasional outburst is what I see here as a common occurence. Your lambasted with the same arguements because people don't agree with you. I suppose the YECs should just keep their mouths shut and stop spouting so that only the Theistic Evolutionists can own the floor? After all the jist of what Wblastyn said to FaithintheFlesh is that she should keep her mouth shut untill she comes to the belief that evolution is truth. Oh, and then she can post and add to the discussion.

c.) Jesus was perfect. Admonishing me for not copying him 100% is a bit silly.
What? I made no comment to you Bushido, I only answered your question as honestly as I knew how. Please quote me here in this thread were I admonished you for not useing jesus's example. You have accused me of committing a wrong against you and I will apologize if I only knew what that wrong is.

d.) T.H. Huxley was an evolutionist, and Darwin's strongest contemporary supporter.
And your point is?

Science is, by its definition, what scientists do. In highschool you will be taught several theorys: Bohr, string, quantum, General relativity. None is yet proven, but these are the views that make up the best interpretation of the universe around that the science has.

Philosophy is, by its definition, an intellectual view of the universe that does not require proof.

In a science class you should be scientist. In a philosophy class you should be a philosopher. But it is rude and inconsiderate to waste the time of the class and the teacher in a sceince class because you have a philosophical problem with the scientific view of the universe.

And it is either the height of arrogance or depth of ignorance to beleive that you can win a scientific arguement using philosophy.

And your point is?
Paragraph 1: Was he out of line? Sure. But that's not the point. It isn't your place to tell him he doesn't have a very Christian like attitude. You are extraordinarily uptight.

Paragraph 2: Does it matter who your comment was directed to? I stand up for a friend. Is that unChristian like too?

Paragraph 3: I'm not saying that YEC's should keep their mouths shut. I'm saying that YEC's should, if they want to be honest scientists, accept that their theory has been falsified. There are some very basic problems with special creation that can't be answered.

Paragraph 4: You're absolutely correct, and I apologize. Replace my name with wblastyn's.

Paragraph 5: T.H. Huxley, being an evolutionist, makes, in my mind, very little sense to have as an advocate of, again in my own mind, young earth creationism.

So your saying to me that it matters little what the man says but more about what he believe's. That's very interesting, thanks, but you still haven't explained to me what this has to do with what we were talking about. I'm not a young earth creationist and I believe that FaithintheFlesh could've learned something from the quote, it does speak truth no matter who spoke it.

Ok Look, check THIS out
It was a thread on a message board it was not the beginning of a world war. If I made a mistake then it has been made but yes I WOULD appriciate it if next time my faults could be presented a little more pleasantly because although I MAY have been wrong this time, you have been wrong too, and everyone has..as you said JEsus is perfect WE are not...so in no way did I deserve to be called ignorant, or a waste of time.
I am a 16 year old student. Students LEARN they do not get told they are ignorant for not KNOWINg, and if you say I am ignorant your intentions arent to teach they are to criticize.
I understand if you get the same arguments over and over but that is LIFe...that is people...I have not been at the board long enough to SEE these other discussions Im sorry if I didnt think to read every other post before saying mine, but at the same time, you did not have to respond.
And I am sorry if you think standing up for my own beliefs and lifestyle in school are wrong, because noone in the classroom did..well..one person..who just wanted an argument.
I posted for input not insults. Sorry to cause such a problem

It has nothing to do with what she believes. She made the same old "evolution is only a theory!!" argument and thought she was great for disrupting her class - that is ignorance of what science is. I don't care if you're a creationist or not, just don't misrepresent science.
