  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Dancers choreography block

Ok, so what do you do when you have dancers block? I've had it for about a year and I'm supposed to be a dance teacher! lol.
Don't actually go to any classes to learn new moves which is probably the problem, but can't seem to put a good dance together!
I've been fine with worship dance too, that just seems to flow, but I teach street dance to contemporary Christian music and its for this that I'm currently struggling with the choreography.
I've been teaching little kids dance (5 &6 yr olds) which is fine, but putting a great dance for teens is just not happening!
Tried praying, using instructional videos and dance films etc and generally taking hours to come up with something, but its just not happening.
Anyone else have the same problem and get over it?!
I really wanna honour God in the dance I put together but somehow its just not coming together.
Any ideas?
I suppose sometimes you've just gotta keep trusting in God.

Hey,
Have you tried to go to someone who choreographs and ask them to pray for you an impartation on a deeper level. I have done this and it has worked. Freely we receive so freely we should give.
The girls I take on mission do this with dancers in foreign countries before leaving them.

Actually I never thought of that- its a really good idea! I don't know many Christian dancers though, my only friend lives a while away. But I might ask for her help-give her a ring or something. Thanks so much!

You know what I did it and its worked really well! I just danced! Like David danced! It was so funny, just put some praise tunes on in my room and totally went for it!!!! You know its probably one of the best feelings ever! When you dance without thinking what anyone else will think. Just like David I danced really undignified but as I danced He just kept giving me new ideas! I felt so free it was great!!!!
I encourage anyone who ever has choreography block to go for it!!! I think I just remembered that its not about the dance- its about Him!!!

Go see a show with a lot of dancing, rent a video or buy someone else's choreography video. It will sure stir up your gift. check out some dance clips here or click on the image
