"Changing the Past"

Jack stopped and stared. Jaw dropping to the table. There in front of him was the largest piece of cheese he had every seen. After pinching himself to see if he was in Mouse heaven, he realized that it must be real. He scurried toward the cheese stopping to look around him to make sure he wasn't being followed. After seeing the coast was clear, he dove onto the side and climbed this massive wheel of cheese. At the top of the wheel he was met face to face by a large hungry looking cat who immediately gave chase. Darting to and fro the cat was only a step behind. As Jack approached the window, a swat in the back side sent him flying through the window into a shrub and knocked him out cold.
"Jack Wake Up" "Jacky, wake up" yelled Brent.
"What were you thinking Jack. Didn't your fathers tell you about the beast inside that house? The cheese is a trap"
Jack finally finding his way to his feet, said, "Brent, you gotta see this cheese man, follow me."
"WHAT!! Jack come on, you know it isn't possible!" Brent squeaked as he follow jack up to the perch near the window.
"It doesn't look that big" Brent downplaying the size of this immense wheel of cheese."It isn't worth it you know. Our parents have tried, our friends have tried and many have died trying to get the cheese. What makes you think we can get some of that cheese?"
"I know we can!" Jack said as he burst into a run and jumped onto the window ledge. Followed shortly by Brent, who was much more cautious about this ambition.
The beast was strolling between living room and kithen as a patrol over the mighty prize.
"So here's the plan" Jack said as he continued to outline the plan of this sneaky mission they were about to undertake.
"That will never work!" exclaimed Brent as he cautiously backed away and decided to wait outside for Jack. Jack began through the window muttering to himself, obviously upset. "I won't share the cheese with you brent!" Jack dove out of view and ran across the counter and hid behind the toaster. To his dismay, he saw a human coming toward him. Jack crouched lower and lower to get out of view and the human walked past him and closed the window. Brent stood at the window banging on the glass to no avail as Jack hurried to the window and crouched into a little ball staring back into the eyes of his dear friend Brent...

"Changing the Past"

It was impossible he knew it was, but that didn't mean that he still didn't wish that he could.
"Everything happens for a reason weather it's good or bad," he mimicked his mothers voice with a sneral. "What does she know?" He spat throwing the now empty bottle at the door which caused it to shatter.
He was a bitter man.
Alone, and stuck in the very past he wished to change.
Everyone got the balme for his problems as the years passed. Everyone hated him weather they even knew him or not, at least he thought they did.
Bitterness over looseing a loved one, bitterness over his wife leaving cause he drunk too much, bitterness over everything and everyone. Nothing made him happy any more and the dreams still hunted him.
Dreams of the criminal minds he forced himself to enter in order to get a profile so that they could be stopped. He was the best in the bisness and he was dead drunk, again. Of course he had been fired years ago. What else where they supposed to do.
In his bitterness he drove everyone away.
In his anger he hurt everyone he had once cared about.
And in his betterness he died, a lost and lonly soul who had only wanted to help stop the bad guys.
The funural was played, the music sung, and no one was sure if he had gone to heaven or hell.
In latter years he was used as an example of what happened when you lived in the past in a vain effert to change it. He was a warning to all who came after him. That lost, lonly and bitter soul. May he rest in peace forever....
