• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Has anyone taken this drug? My wife is and I think it is causing her to have strange thoughts and impulses. I found out that she was thinking of having an affair with someone and that is totally out of character for her. She is 43 years old and is has fair health. I have read many bad reports of this drug and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with it. Also, she is going thru menopause. Can that be a reason for her thinking to be strange? Thanks.

 I'm taking Cymbalta.

It's taken me some time to get used to it, but when I first started taking it, I started having really strong urges to hurt myself. Before I started on this drug, I was taking Remorol (spelling?) for depression and suicidal throughts, but I'd never actually hurt myself.

I've been having a lot of problems with scratching and/or cutting myself for the past few months. For more info, you can glance at my journal (but you don't have to :sorry: ). http://www.christianforums.com/t1348272

I suggest you take a look at this website: http://www.cymbalta.com/index.jsp

It has a list of side effects, this is an excerp:

All pediatric patients being treated with antidepressants for any indication should be observed closely for clinical worsening, suicidality, and unusual changes in behavior, especially during the initial few months of a course of drug therapy, or at times of dose changes, either increases or decreases. Such observation would generally include at least weekly face-to-face contact with patients or their family members or caregivers during the first 4 weeks of treatment, then every other week visits for the next 4 weeks, then at 12 weeks, and as clinically indicated beyond 12 weeks.

And you should definitely consider speaking to a doctor/psychiatrist about it. Even though Cymbalta is a fairly new drug, they should know a lot more about it than either you or I do.

Hope I helped.:)
:prayer:God Bless
